Hubby and I are heading to Disney World in September but mainly we're able to go because he will be attending a conference for most of the time we're there. We're staying on site so I won't have to drive anywhere by myself and I'm up for taking the girls to the parks on my own. Nut, never having been there as an adult with kids, how hard will it be for me to take the kids on rides? Are most of them two seaters? They are 6 and 10 but the 10 year old is my timid one and WON'T sit alone....there will be no rollercoasters involved! So says I. Any thoughts? Anyone done it?

What a great bonding time! I have not done it, but I dont see why you wouldnt be able to. Have a wonderful time!

We go every year because my husband has conferences. I've been left alone with the kids (3 or 4 of them, depending upon the year!), and it's been mostly fine. I was left with 3 preschoolers the first few years, which was harder than 6 and 10, I'd think.

For quite a few of the rides, the 10 and 6 year old can sit together, and you can be the lone rider. There are others where the 3 of you can fit.

I say go for it! It will be fun.

I just took my 6 yr old daughter and almost 3 year old son on a 5 day trip mid-Nov. No problems on rides at all with the two of them. Most of the rides we went on at Magic Kingdom we went on all 3 together. The only problem we ran into was when DD wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain rollar coaster and DS was not big enough. She was brave enough to go alone and no wait in line at the time so I sent her and waited at the exit. She was fine and thrilled to go on it. We went to Animal Kingdom and were fine on the rides we did there such a the Safari and train ride. Have fun!

I always go with just the kids...5 of them! You'll have a great trip. Have fun! :goodvibes

I traveled by myself with my kids (just turned 10 and 8 at the time of the trip) in September, and everything was great! Most rides do seat 2, and most of the time the kids sat together and I sat alone. For faster rides, I sat with dd because she is tiny (40 pounds) for her age. Test Track has seating for 3. Remember that you'll be seeing a lot of shows where you all can sit side-by-side also.

We had a WONDERFUL trip! Disney is very family-friendly and it's a great place to be with the kids whether you're with another adult or not. I'm sure you'll have a good time. I'm hoping to travel alone with the kids again in 08.

I went last December alone with just my 2 youngest children, they were 7 and 5 then. We had a great time!!! Most of the rides all 3 of us sat together. The other rides I sat with my 7 year old dd (who is a ride wimp), and ds5 sat alone. In Dinoland at AK on the spinning ride, the children met 2 kids riding alone and they sat with them (ds sat with the boy, and dd sat with the girl).

We had alot of compromising since dd doesn't like some rides. Ds was fine with not riding everything since we go to WDW at least once a year.

The ONLY problem I had being the only adult was stopping in the bathroom. The kids were getting bored visiting the bathroom all the time because I have the weakest bladder (lol).

Its great fun - I love going by myself with the kids (as well as with dh of course)!

I have been taking my dd's to the parks solo since they were 3 & 5yo, they are now 9 & 11 and we can still fit three to a seat.

The only thing we don't sit three is Space Mtn which is three in a row and barnstormer, the two kids sit together with me sitting behind them.

Thanks for relieving my concerns! We may be meeting up with another mom so we can perhaps take turns watching kids while on some rides where 3 is not an option.

I have to say....DIS Boards is THE number one best resource out there! How do people possibly manage Disney with out all of you? :sunny:

I always go solo with 3 kids & first time was when mine were 8, 6 & 4. The 8 year old thought it was great fun to push the 6 & 4 year old in the stroller. You'll be fine!!

Been there done that.......you will have a blast!! My girls and I were able to go on every ride together and fit in one seat. They are teens now and we still fit in one seat on Thunder Mountain and Haunted Mansion.

Did last year and would definetly do it again!! :) My kids and I had a blast together! My kids were 5 and 14 months at the time. My 14 month old DS was still nursing too. I explained to 5 yo DD that it would be a different kind of Disney trip with just mommy in the parks and we would have to go a little slower but she rose to the occassion and boy we all enjoyed it.

Our only problem arised when I forgot where I parked at MGM! I had an idea of where we boarded the tram and thought I had an idea of what row we were in, however the rented mini-van was not in the row where I thought. Of course it being a rented mini-van there seemed to be hundreds of the same make and model in every row. We found it only afer canvassasing every row up and down in the section that we got on the tram!! It was parked much farther back in the section than I had remembered. :( I was really glad I had brought the double stroller at that time so I had both kids in one spot and tried not to panic!!!!!!! But your on-site so your trip should be a breeze! :)

Have fun!

I'm doing this with dd's 4 and 2 in February. DH has a conference at BWI...so I'm planning lots of pool time, a trip to the BBB, and maybe even a character meal if I can pull it off.
