One or two bedroom hotels

We just got back from Disneyland and opted for a 1-bedroom suite at Paradise Pier. It was definitely $$$ even with a discount, but the proximity to everything (with special entrance to DCA) plus early entry to the parks (we're on Central time so we were up early anyway 😜) made it worth it. We have an almost-two-year-old so napping in the room was easy and clutch.

Another option that I don't think was mentioned yet... We had originally booked a suite at the Holiday Inn Anaheim (1240 South Walnut), which is on the other side of the Mickey & Friends parking structure and would have been about $200/night. We'll probably try it next time! 😄 It's on the Anaheim shuttle route so a $4 trip to the front of the parks. :-)
Thanks for this. We splurged on a one bedroom kidani animal view in 2022, and just did some splurge hotels in this road trip. I’m realizing I need to dial it back a bit on hotels.

I’m worried going in March isn’t the best idea, but with having a kid in school now, it works best for us. Plus, the thought of going somewhere warmer in March is appealing (we live outside of Toronto).

We will look into all the options on here tonight. At this point, we are considering an Anaheim only stay and just using a tour company for some day trips. If we do that, we might do a split stay of a high end and moderate hotel.

Totally understand!! ❤️

Depends on when in March. I know Texas schools have spring break in Mid March. There may be schools in surrounding states that do as well. California spring break is April.

Not necessarily, most San Diego Unified School’s spring breaks are the last week of March. My daughter’s spring break is the middle two weeks of March and she’s at a charter high school in San Diego. She went to a charter for elementary through middle and her spring break was always the last two weeks of March. I think it’s safe to say that most California schools don’t have spring break at the beginning of March, but spring breaks start for a lot of local schools in mid-March.

Hyatt Regency Orange County has 1 and 2 bedroom suites. Great hotel and they have their own shuttle ($6/adult per day), it drops off right where the busses drop at the Harbor entrance. It's not walking distance, but it was super quick on the shuttle.

We also love staying here. Shuttle is convenient and reliable and drops off right at security. Rooms are great. We live the two bedroom suites. Also love the lobby and OC Brewhouse.

I've considered this hotel so many times. How often does the shuttle run and how long does it take to get to the park?

I've stayed as early as a few months back.

It is a hotel dedicated shuttle that leaves every 30 to 45 minutes.
I think it usually takes about 10 minutes to arrive depending on traffic on Harbor.

Thanks! I have Hyatt points and was going to stay at Hyatt Place in May, but I'll see if Regency has rooms available.

Every 30 minutes on the 15 and 45 it leaves the hotel. On the hour and on the half to go from DLR to the hotel. It only takes 10 minutes and drops off at the bus loop right out of security. The drivers are always very nice and helpful. I love staying at Disneyland hotel but for the price of the suite at the Hyatt (vs just a two queen room at DH) and getting dropped off right at security, we just can’t justify staying at Disneyland hotel anymore.

Thanks! It seems really nice. Is there usually space on the shuttle? When we stayed at Candy Cane we would have to sometimes wait for the next shuttle because the first one was full, especially when leaving the park at night.

I know what you mean about DLH. We've been a few times but I don't think we'll go back after our last stay there.

We never had issues with space on the shuttle. It was a worry of mine since if you miss one, you have to wait 30 min. But we always got on with no issues (we went mid-June 2022 and the parks were super crowded!).

I have never had issues with finding space on the shuttle either. Last September I got downstairs right after the first shuttle of the day pulled away, and they brought up a van to give me a ride. Just me! But then others showed up in the meantime to catch a ride as well. I thought that was very nice.

We’ve never had an issue! The first couple of the day are definitely busier, but we’ve always had a spot.

Well, after much debate between Paris and California, we have settled on California and have booked the 1 bedroom with kitchen at Desert Palms. We are going mid/late April (I read that is a busy time, but we got a good flight deal, so....). I'll report back on Desert Palms! I'm not a fan of carpet so we will see.

I just stayed at Americas Best Value Inn on Katella in a 1BR. No kitchen but it was great, we really liked it.
It had a queen in one bedroom - yes with a door, and in the other room were two doubles, TV, fridge and microwave.
With a separate bathroom and robe/suitcase storage area.

It was around $145 a night

I just took a look - it looks like its much more for our time. We are likely to use the kitchen, so it will save us some money. I think we are going to keep an eye on Park Vue just to be closer, but I'm not sure if prices will drop.

Adding on,
Camelot
Desert Inn and Suites
Residence Inn
Clementine Suites
And there are more.

A Parlor Suite at the Desert Inn & Suites (DI&S) might be what you are looking for. You can look at the room in a virtual tour and the floor plan at the link above.

The DI&S booking calendar is open for March 2023 right now. For March the room is about $209. The earlier you book the lower the rate. It will only go up as time goes by. Nice thing is it is right at the crosswalk to DLR.

None of the rooms at the Desert Inn have kitchens or kitchenettes. They just have a mini-fridge and microwave.

Park Vue in has a suite with a kitchenette. Starts at $350 and is more expensive depending upon date. But it's right across the street from the park. And there is a door dividing the bedroom from the living/kitchenette area.

Here's a link so you can see it - https://www.parkvueinn.com/rooms/double-queen-kitchenette-suite

I don't think there are many of these types of rooms so you'd definitely want to book early if you want to stay here.

ETA - Just realized you are looking at a few months from now and not March 2024. If I had to guess, the kitchenette suites at Park Vue are probably booked for March 2023.

I’ve book for April. Park Vue does have a room with kitchen, but it’s too expensive for what I want to pay. I have a room held at desert palms and Hampton. We booked DP but I really don’t like the look of it (sorry to those who love it), and we think our daughter would prefer her own room. Hampton is much further but the rooms look nice, she gets her own room, and apparently east shuttle from Toy Story lot. No kitchen though - mini fridge and microwave.
