Ok I am taking my nephew who will almost be 6 in Nov on the Wonder. What I am worried about is that he is still having problems with the wiping after going potty. Will this prevent him from participating, or will they page me everytime to wipe. We are working on this , trust me, but just in case.

IDK what they would do, but my kids are pretty regular about their time of day. LOL! Maybe you could just time his club time around that so it wouldn't be an issue. He should be able to page you whenever he wants to from what I have read though. Maybe you could work out a code with him? That way he wouldn't be embarassed telling them why he wants to page you each time.

eek!LOL:p That is too funny! My 4 year old and I got into a fight about this just today! I hope he gets it down before our 11/29 cruise but I'm actually more preoccupied with my 3 year old who has absolutely no interest in potty training right now. Did you read the thread on 3 year olds not potty trained? At least we know there are others out there with "weird kid questions" too.:p

Whats funny is I just finished reading that. I know this weekend when my good guy friend(not boyfriend) was here he asked him to come wipe his butt! Poor guy wouldnt do it for him, said thats your Aunts job...lol. I just can see the senario now...I am relaxing by the pool, tropical drink, good book, and I get paged to come wipe a rear! Kinda takes away that magic, I wish I could tell him about the trip now as a way to get him to have interest in learning the fine art of wiping, but its 2 far away to really do that, without him asking everyday if its time to go.......lol. But it looks like we are traveling around the same time, so maybe I will post "live" and keep you updated;) I just know he is gonna love the kids programs and wondered if the wiping was gonna be an issue. Lets hope not...

The counter is very cool. I suggest you place a new thread on the board entitled "How did I get the counter." Someone will quickly post the link with the instructions. Its easy, if I can do it, anyone can!!!

Hi eek40.

What I am worried about is that he is still having problems with the wiping after going potty. Will this prevent him from participating, or will they page me everytime to wipe.

When we're young, we need to LEARN how to wipe ourselves. When we're old, we need to REMEMBER how to wipe ourselves. Inbetween we're teachers...

When my son was younger, he had difficulty connecting the paper to the butt. What we devised for a time was for him to use disposable wipes. This wetted material cleaned pretty well and then all he needed to do was use the tissue paper for drying purposes. If he ran out of toilet paper, I told him he could always press one of those hand dryers and then do any one of many calisthenics to direct his rear upwards. Fortunately he understands Daddy's sense of humor. lol.

Too bad DCL doesn't offer a bidet for kids. THAT would be some explanation...

Well I am still holding out on hope that he will figure this out. I love all the suggestions I get on this board! Thanks, and keep um coming!

That is what my 3 year old uses, it is so much easier for her to clean herself with. The even have a container of those in her preschool since they will not help the kids wipe after going to the bathroom there. It is much easier for the kids to do it themselves using those.

OK, since we're all sharing here, our whole family uses these. Once you get used to them, it's hard going back to grinding away at that tp.

Try them on your nephew.

I love the idea of the wipes for O'neill. I think we will give that a dry run....um...maybe wet run...maybe I should stop while I am ahead!

We have encountered the same problem. My just turned 5 year old goes to Preschool and will be starting Kindergarten in August. I have been working so hard with him to get this wiping thing down. At first he was worried he was going to miss some :) and then he just did not do a good job.............problem solved my SIL suggested flushable wipes. They did the trick for him but he still needs to be able to wipe himself at school because he can not hold it like he tries too..............well the flushable wipe thing was going great until Monday, Memorial Day and my youngest son's 2nd birthday when our septic backed up on a brand new house and the Builder blamed it on the flushable wipes  Anyhoo, back to learning how to do a better job wiping for my 5 year old.................how fun to share and that we all are going through it or have been there :p

Okay, I will jump in on the 'fun' here...

My son will wipe, but always wants me to come and finish the job. No job is ever finished until the 'paper' work is done!!!:p

So, here is my deal. Sometimes he has made a bigger mess of himself. And, then I do have to wet a thick amount of tissue to clean him up. Not just behind, but up front too! So, my question really is, for your little boys, do they wipe front to back, or back to front? ( Okay I know, a little off cruise topic here, but what the heck!)

Yeouch!! Dd was a very late wiper too. We finally got sick of it and said "on your 7th birthday you're on your own!!" She complained about it, but now RARELY tries to con us into wiping. We also use the flushables, but she throws them into a trash can lined with a plastic bag. I was concerned about the septic tank thing too!!
Now, if only my 6 yr old would wipe himself!!

Hi Wishing on a star.

for your little boys, do they wipe front to back, or back to front?

What we TEACH them and what they DO are two very different scenarios. I instructed my little guy back to front. Don't really know WHAT in heaven's name he did! How a kid can end up with poop anywhere from his navel to the small of his back is beyond my comprehension. Although sometimes I think the magician-in-training abandoned front to back or back to front in favor of in and out...
