We did our 1st WDW vacation in May '11 and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (and fell unloved with WL). Now we will be staying for a week in Tampa the 2nd week of January '12 and decided to surprise our boys (ages 5 and 1 1/2) with one day at MK. Rather than driving back to the Gulf, unfamiliar and late at night, we want to stay on property but can't justify spending $300 for one night's sleep. We thought about booking at a value or Moderate, but wanted advice/opinions. We won't be there long, but my thought is that we still want the best experience possible. Any suggestions?!

If you are only going to be at the resort to sleep for one night, exactly what kind of experience is it that you are hoping to find? This might help us direct you to a suitable resort. :confused3

If you will only be there to sleep (staying in the parks till later in the evening) then I would think any of the moderates would be just fine. And if you can make do with a smaller room and double beds, then any of the values would be OK.

Since it is only for one night, you might want to go with All-Stars Movies for the theme. I haven't stayed there but I know my DD and I spent some time there just walking around it and she really liked it. She really wanted to see the Dalmations so we took a tour around the place.

I am even considering staying there or at POP next trip since she really liked the theme there so much. We have stayed at CSR and CBR before. Both are really nice.

Port Orleans is great to stay at for one night or two. Wonderful grounds and rooms are decent. We like it and sometimes stay there a couple of days to keep trip costs down.

I agree! If you don't want to spend the money on a deluxe or even a moderate, I would look at All-Star Movies! The theming is a lot of fun for little kids! VERY Disney! And it should cost you less than $100. Plus you will have a car, so you won't have to rely on the busses. The room won't feel the same as Wilderness Lodge, but, honestly, I think only the adults will notice the difference. :)

Thanks! I think ASMo might be the way to go. Even though we will mainly be crashing, I still want the experience for my 5 yr old. He will be wide awake when we get there and check in and we will most likely grab a bite in the morning before we head back to the family. So I at least want the hotel theme to be exciting for him.

We stayed at POR for one night after a cruise a year or two ago. The ride to MK is a short one (7-9 mins max) and we also loved the boat to DTD. The food court is also the best one on property IMO.
