I am going to do 7 nights in a 2BR at SSR next April--will be booking the points portion on Saturday (11 months out). I need to do one night on cash--this allows the 2 br over a 1br, but still leaves me some extra points to work with for summer 2010.
1) is the 25% off for DVC members at DVC resorts applicable this early, and if not, will I need to keep checking to see if (when) it becomes available? This will be peak time--our check out day is Good Friday.
2) I will be booking April 3 with cash. If I book it now to link the reservations, do I need to pay now, or say 60 days out?

When you book cash nights through member services, you do not pay in advance. You just have to leave a credit card # as a guarantee. If you cancel less than 6 days before, they charge one night. Otherwise, you pay at check-in.

We've booked a cash night a couple of times and typically, the 25% discount isn't available this far in advance. Both times we've booked the cash night I've gotten it about 4-6 months in advance. If you know you are going to pay cash, with or without the discount, especially at such a peak time, I'd go ahead and book it now so you don't lose the room. You can then call back periodically as it gets closer and ask about the discount.

Have fun!

I booked a cash night this past Jan for Dec 26, 2008 at SSR. It was just a few days past the 11 month mark. I started booking my stay day by day and wanted to start with a cash night. I was told on the first day that they weren't available yet, but four or five days later it was. So I would check back shortly if it isn't available yet.
