Hello!

We stayed at BLT for one night after our DCL in June. This was our first stay here and we got resort view and refurbished room! I loved the layout and the mid century modern theming. I wished it was more than one night.

It was me, DH, DD5 and DS3

We drove from Port Canaveral to BLT to drop off our bags and get our magic bands set up before heading to typhoon lagoon. All the CM were very helpful and helped us load our stuff onto a luggage cart.

Then we spent the next few hours at typhoon lagoon. We ate some chicken tenders first. DH got me a sangria because I felt stressed when my magic band didn't work and it was hot and the kids were cranky. DS3 cried after realizing he couldn't eat unlimited soft serve ice cream with every meal anymore. (He enjoyed a lot of ice cream on the cruise.)

But once we were in the water we all perked up. The kids loved the smaller kids area and did the little tube ride a lot. Then we did the family tube ride which was a lot of fun and then we went in the wave pool. Those waves are HUGE. I grew up on the west coast and it reminded me of getting caught up in those big waves.

And then we went back to BLT. These pictures are technically from the next morning but I'll post now so you can see the room

It's so beautiful and I really like how the kitchenette is separated in its own space and it felt huge after being in a cruise ship cabin.

After we all showered and changed we walked over to the contemporary. We walked outside since we were on the ground floor. We looked at the pool and the outdoor lawn games. DH saw a snake on the pathway and found a CM to tell but they were like yeah there are snakes here but they're not dangerous. 😂

Then we ate dinner at contempo cafe. Everytime a monorail stopped DS3 waved at the people and he got a lot of waves back.

It was nice to be able to mobile order. This was restricted to resort guests while we were here.

I don't remember what I got but I remember really liking it lol. The kids' kids meals each came with a fountain cup which DH and I took since the kids just drink water from their water bottles. And it was weird I think we were allowed to get like 3 refills within a certain amount of time. DH and I joked that we were drinking more soda because of it.

I had promised DS3 ice cream earlier when he was sad so then we took the monorail (which was very exciting for the kids... especially after watching it in contempo cafe) over to poly.

Poly was very crowded...we went straight to the ice cream outside. The kids played on the lawn and very much liked the fire in the tiki torches while DH waited in line to buy DS3 "white ice cream"

Luckily we got a table once he got the ice cream and DS3 ate while DD5 colored. I ate some ice cream too. It was yummy. I really like the theming at poly but there's always been a lot of people there when I visit and the main pool looked really crowded even though it was pretty late at this point.

I apologize for the lack of pictures. I will do better next time.

Then we got on one of the boats that was headed to MK. DD5 wanted to sit outside by herself because she's so grown up lol. It was cute and there was only one other family on the boat so it felt safe. This was my first time on these boats and it was a fun way to get around. It felt like a relaxing ride.

We all walked back to BLT from MK. DH and DS3 went back to the room to go to bed. DD5 and I went to the contemporary to look at the gift shops and grab stuff for breakfast and I promised DD5 she could pick a dessert since DS3 had ice cream.

There's 3 really good gift shops! Of course we looked at all of them. DD5 traded a pin. DD5 picked out her souvenir, a Minnie house toy house. I wanted to buy DVC merch but I resisted. We also bought some muffins for the morning and DD5 bought a popsicle

So of course we then had to literally run over to BLT to avoid the popsicle from melting before she could eat it in the room.

It was a fun end to the night. I think DD5 and I like browsing Disney gift shops the same amount.

The next day is MK!

We woke up early, packed up everything, ate some food and drank some coffee. DH woke up with a sore throat but he said besides that he felt ok and pushed on.

It was a very easy and peaceful walk to MK. We got there for EE. The last time we were at MK DS3 was afraid to go on rides after the stretching room in HM so I was a little nervous whether or not he would enjoy rides.

We hit tomorrowland first. The kids asked to go on buzz so we did that

And then autotopia which was already too hot 🥵

And then we did some Fantasyland rides. I think we had a LLMP for small world (my strategy was to get a really early one to try for more top tier ones) and then the kids and DH (and the evil step sisters which were funny) were on the carousel and we went on Winnie the Pooh and philharmagic. DS3 got very afraid of this and he had to leave with DH. We think he didn't understand the things flying towards him weren't real.

Then we headed to adventureland for pirates and tiki room

And then we ate at a QS back in tomorrowland (after looking at menus online and asking the kids what they wanted to eat). It was inside with AC which was a relief. We were all very hot.

DH and DS3 then headed to our car parked at BLT for a nap.

DD5 and I went to tianas. DD5 was very excited for this ride. It was our first time. I was scared pretty much the whole time because I didn't know when the big drop was going to happen. DD5 was more brave

DD5 after finally riding tianas ❤️

Then we headed to dumbo because we wanted to go to the indoor playground BUT IT WAS CLOSED 😭 it was hot and she loves that playground. I hope it's open next time we're there

But they told us about a cool kid summer activity tent close by so we went to that. Meh. We were hot and we just weren't that into it

Then we went on barnstormer which DD5 didn't like last time but she wanted to try it again. And it turned out to be her favorite ride!

But we were overheated by now. So we headed to main St to be in the AC gift shops until it was time for our lunch reservation at tonys.

I picked tonys because I thought it would let us watch the parade in the AC. And also because DD5 loves pasta and also because it wasn't too expensive.

We weren't able to get a table by the window but DD5 said she didn't care about the parade. But she loved her pasta. She ate all of it. And it was a much needed break of sitting in AC. I had a coffee and a salad and was very happy. We could kind of see the parade so that was cool. I think for future summer trips if we don't take a break to go back to the hotel I'll make a TS reservation for the middle of the day. It definitely refreshed both of us.

DS3 and DH called us to tell us they were awake and heading back. We waited for them outside tonys and DD5 met a princess. We've never watched this show but DD5 was still happy to meet a princess

And then it was time for our LLMP for HM. We discussed whether DS3 should go or not...since it scared him so bad last time but he had been doing well so we decided to go for it. But we did skip the stretching room. DH thought it was interesting that they had a procedure for skipping it since so many kids were scared of it. We don't really get why it's so scary. Anyway DS3 did great.

I think we went on barnstormer next since DD5 liked it so much. And DS3 did great on that too. Completely different MK kid on this trip.

And then we went on dumbo and then we went into the circus tent camp for snacks and AC. DS3 got a cupcake and I got an icy juice type thing. They had a magician in there for cool kid summer so we watched that for a little while.

Then it was time to head over to jungle cruise. Pictures on the way

After jungle cruise I think we did carpets (the camel shooting water is fun, I kept wanting to get wet) and then country bears for the first time. We all liked it and were happily surprised they were songs we knew. And monsters inc laugh floor. And then I think small world again?

Anyway we kept hitting attractions until maybe 45 min before fireworks. We got a really good spot in front of the castle a little behind the hub. And then DD5 and I hit the confectionary because she had seen the m&m wall earlier and wanted some. And then we went to the gift shop and spur of the moment decided to buy an extra souvenir for each kid- a Winnie the Pooh lovey for DS3 and a Tinkerbell lovey for DD5. They were both happily surprised and squeezed them the rest of the night.

When the show started DH and I had to each pick up a kid so that they could see (I wish we as a group could just collectively agree to sit) so that was kinda hard after a long day. They are both heavy for me. But it was a great show. We had never watched it directly in front of the castle before. DS3 still talks about it.

And then the park closed when the show was over. I had never been there when the park closed at the end of fireworks before. Usually we hit up rides with no wait after fireworks. But instead we were just in a giant stressful hot heard towards the exit. It was crazy. We saw someone drop a tray of brand new food from Casey's and just keep going. We saw a tween girl sitting on the floor crying and the grown up with her was talking to her but also kind of like shielding her from the people... probably afraid of her getting stepped on. Somehow DD5 fell asleep in her stroller during this.

And then we were on the peaceful path back to BLT. DS3 announced he was hungry. And DH and I were also hungry. We decided to eat at contempo cafe but when we got there the mobile order wait time was an hour and neither of us wanted to wait in the real line. So we went to the gift shop and bought snacks instead. The plan was to drive home to VA tonight. (Spoiler: we did not do the 11hr drive home to VA after our 14 hour day in the heat at WDW)

After we got our snacks we walked over to BLT and DS3 and I changed into less sweaty comfy clothes and did our final pee. And then we started driving. I was supposed to drive the first half. I made it about 2 hours before I felt like I couldn't stay awake any longer. So DH switched with me and he made it about an hour. And then I tried again for like 45 min but I started to get a migraine and stopped because I thought I was going to throw up. And then DH switched with me and found a hotel for us to sleep in.

It was soooo nice to sleep in a bed. We woke up early and did the rest of the drive. We are not going to attempt to drive all the way home after a full park day again. Learned that lesson. But maybe we should have already known that was a bad idea 🤔

Final thoughts

I would love love love to stay at BLT again. I want to buy a contract here but I really really shouldn't. I loved the style and lay out of the room. I loved how BLT was kind of quiet but close to the hustle and bustle at the contemporary. I loved how easy it was to get to other monorail hotels. I loved how easy it was to get to MK. I'm excited to see what the pools will look like after they get refurbished... eventually going to happen right?

Some people just get it 😀 I love my home resort and cant wait to stay there again. If they did something new to the pools I would be ecstatic, but not holding my breath!

We will be back at WDW in about 2 weeks for a mostly split stay resort stay and our first MNSSHP! 🎃

My intention is to be much much better at taking pictures. And then I'll write a TR

I'm very excited. We will be staying at Kidani and Saratoga springs so both are new to us. I'm a little nervous about the heat and storms. It is our first August visit.
