Ok: I have borrowed & bought everything possible to book a 2 bedroom at OKW 11/20-11/26 for our family of 6. We would like to stay the night of 11/26 so that we can see the CP at EPCOT. So, do we: 1)check out on 11/26 and drive as far as we can after the show-(husband's vote), 2) book two rooms at a moderate hotel (kids vote) 3) book one night at the cabins via expedia (my vote) Alternative suggestions welcome...

You can purchase 1 time use points (Up to 24) from MS for $15 a point or try to rent points and book the additional night.

Definitely would not try to get on the road that late. Just getting out of WDW at that time will take longer.

I would try for a good rate at Swan and Dolphin. That way you will have parking and can just walk or boat back after the CP. Easy to gas up at Hess and get on the road the next morning.:wizard:

Thanks-I already bought as many points as I could-I forgot about the Swan and Dolphin-we could walk back to the room after the show-great idea-thanks!

The cabin. Since you are going to need two rooms, maybe something just outside Disney, that would save you money and get you headed in the direction of home for the next morning.

There is a new Fairfield Inn and Suites in Clermont that is really nice and would be on your way but only about 30 mins from Disney. They have breakfast too.

Basically all you are going to be doing is sleeping and getting up to head home the next day.

You're welcome:wizard: I know when we drive, 1 of my concerns is parking a fully loaded vehicle if we pack up the night before or stop along the way. You wont get far down the road after a night at Epcot and then you have to worry about your stuff in the car.
You will most likely be packed up so having the secure parking at SD would give you a little more protection and rest.

My Dh would want to get on the road too, but it is just too exhausting, even when he drives. I want a shower and a bed!:rotfl: You will have to be up pretty early to get all 6 of you out of your 2 bed by 11am, even with packing up the night before so you really want to rest after packing and a park day.

I find having 1 more night after we are packed up works really well for all of us. It allows me time to get mentally prepared for the road trip after all that packing and last minute running around. We drive 1200 miles straight thru every Christmas, because we are able to get an early morning start and drive in mostly daytime hours. We also budget in time and money for a stop and dont push it, but so far have not needed to.

Sorry-new questions: I was about to book at the Dolphin-but my husband wants to know if we can switch-he'd rather stay the first night at the Dolphin and then stay the rest of the week at OKW. Is it hard to change DVC reservations? Thanks!!

Not if there is availability. Give MS a call and see if you can add a night to the end and drop a night at the beginning.

Good luck!

11/20 is in choice season, so you were paying 45 points for a 2 bedroom. 11/26 is in magic season, you'll need 59 points.

Good point, especially since she is trying to find something that does not involve more points.

Thanks-the point change was the deciding factor! We are now booked at the Dolphin-one room on Starwood points and the other on AAA-so a good deal and easy to get to and from EPCOT-now I just have to decide which restaurant to book when the packages come out:rotfl:

Make sure you mark that date and call when they open. Many dates sold out quickly last year.

You could also book a DVC reservation (if available) through the sponsor on these boards.
