One more Dinner!

I need one more dinner ressie.

Crew: me (26), Cousin (7), and Grandma (80)

We are going for 6 nights/5 days end of June/beginning of July (HOT). Staying at CR to make my life easier

It's cousin AND Gma's first trip.

Cousin states she doesn't want to have character interactions but I'm planning meals both ways just in case (I'll cancel if I need to). She might want to meet the "face characters" but I would rather pick yummy food over characters for this reason. Especially the first night.

Current Plan:
Arrive evening
Day 1- MK- What should we do for dinner???
Day 2- EPCOT- Restaurant Marrakesh
Day 3- HS- 50's PTC (lunch)
Day 4- AK- Whispering Canyon Cafe
Day 5- MK- Crystal Palace (breakfast), Ohana (dinner)
Day 6- Chef Mickey's for breakfast before we leave

How about The Wave, 1900 Park Faire, or The Plaza?

Since you are staying at CR, I would absolutely go to the Wave on the first night. Your grandmother may be tired from traveling and a restaurant in your resort is easy to get to and IMO the Wave is a real hidden gem. The food is great.

I'd reccommend Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK, the food is good and it's family style for dinner. They also do lunch if you wanted to do that.

First trip for the 7 yr old & the 80 yr old? And the very first day at the MK? I'd go with something quintessentially Disney. How about Tony's? Right on Main Street USA. Even better if you time it to watch a parade from the veranda, or right after a parade so Gma gets a rest without walking halfway across the park.

Day 2: there are so many choices at Epcot; I'd go with Marrakesh only if you are sure the cuisine appeals to all 3 of you. If not, how about Coral Reef? The fish make great "eye candy" for both Cousin & Gma. Or Biergarten, if Gma is OK with buffets (i.e. no mobility issues that make carrying food a problem for her).

This!! I agree. LTT is on our must do list for our fall trip!

I'd choose either The Wave or Kona Cafe. There's nothing more Disney than the CR and the Poly. What a great way to relax on your first day by visiting and enjoying some of the better non-signature food on property.

I'd switch your Ohana ressie to the first night and get a time in line with the fireworks. They turn off the lights, pipe in the music, and when the show starts, it's the best "I'm at Disney" warm and fuzzy feeling!

A little more info and some responses:

Grandma is a world traveler- literally, she's going to South America for 3 weeks next month and it's the middle of their summer while she is there She runs circles around me.

The night I'm wondering about dinner is our first full day, we are arriving the evening before. The plan is to spend the first day at the MK, break mid day for swimming and my nap

I tried Kona my last trip and wasn't "wowed" after hearing all the awesome reviews on the Dis. The meal was ok. We did Ohana (1st time) the same trip and was blown away by the meal.

Ok, my cousin is 1/2 Moroccan and Gma has been to Morocco (loves Belly Dancers and will probably get up and dance with them). I hear good things about Biergarten but I'm hesitant for the above reason- Knowing those 2 facts, would you still say that Biergarten will be a better overall experience?

(hesitating on Coral Reef because cousin has fish allergy. I know they can make her a safe meal but the fish oil can get anywhere and she will get hives from contact)

My only reason to hesitate on this fantastic idea is that my sister might join us at the end of our trip. I wanted her to go to experience Ohana if she can.

If I switch Ohana, then what do we do the last night??

Honestly until last week I would've agreed with most people here. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Poly and O'hana's is a must do for us. And eating at CR, well of course it will be fantastic.

But I had dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe last week and was BLOWN AWAY! My steak was perfect and the potato was the best I've ever had at The World. Our waiter said that there are 3 butchers on staff at WDW and The Grand Floridian has one of them. If that's true, then it shows. It was an amazing meal and we will definitely return!

And the GF is classic, AND you can watch Wishes from here too!

How about 1900 Park Faire? Cousin, if girly,can get a princess fix with Cinderella, Prince Charming and the stepsisters. The food is buffet but really pretty good and you also get to see the gorgeous GF lobby. G'ma would probably enjoy sitting for a while and hearing the orchestra, it's really a fun place with lots of shops. And oh, the chilled strawberry soup is divine!
