The countdown is on, we have just over a month to go!! 5 weeks as of tomorrow, actually :)

The only thing I'm stressing about now, is how to pay for things while we are there. I was going to take my cc with me, either my regular RBC one, or a prepaid CC. Any pros or cons for either option? I am going to be taking cash with me for tips at our table service meals, I'd rather pay those as I go instead of adding them on to my chargebacks to the room. Or, I can stick with cash and leave it in the safe in the room and only take a certain amount with me per day and then I know what I am spending, because I tend to go a bit nuts if it's like 'invisible' money. lol

I would just take your regular credit cars with you if you don't want to charge things back to your room. We have gone several years now and actually find it more secure and safe to just chafe things back to the room and leave our credit cards etc in the safe rather than risk loosing anything in the parks. Also if you have a newer credit card like most are in Canada you will want to get a RFID scan proof sleeve or holder for your credit card so that no one scans your information with out you knowing which could lead to identity theft. When you charge things back to your room you can actually stop ny the front desk and get a print out of the current charges so you can double check that everything is correct rather than waiting until you get back home and checking your credit card bill. One other thing is that you can actually stop by the desk and also just pay them cash on your bill instead of the charges going onto your credit card...we often do that as well.

This is a great option because they don't actually charge your credit card after each purchase. They wait until your balance reaches the limit ($500 for Value resorts, $1000 for Mods and $1500 for Deluxes) or the day you check out, whichever comes first. We just keep our credit and debit cards in the safe and charge everything else to the room, including restaurant tips. The statement of charges you get from Disney is very detailed and is broken down by person and listed in chromological order. And then they charge your credit card once.

Great, thanks so much!!!!

we're leaving in 5.5 weeks! can't wait! I just paid for our hotel on Monday with my credit card and they charged me 1.19 cents per $ cdn... EEEEKKK!! (because the credit card charged an automatic 2.5% fee for currency conversion).. now I'm not sure if I want to use my credit card down there or get some cash to take...

You can do what the OP suggested and put a credit card down to guarantee the room charges and the night before you check out go to guest services at your hotel and give them cash to pay off your balance. This way you will have all the benefits of charging to the room and not having to carry cash with you every day. :thumbsup2

I'm going one month tomorrow! :thumbsup2
Everything is paid for ..we have DLX dining. ADR's are made, fastpasses booked.

Whatever CC I add to the room will catch the overflow!

I have 26 days until I'm there. Luckily I booked my flight, DVC room and UCT tickets before the currency shift. Same thing goes for Cash. I've been saving in the USD account since December last year. The only thing new is that I have been using my scotiarewards to get $USD gift cards for Disney. minnie56 ... where are you staying?

Ted

It looks like a lot of us are leaving in a month's time! Exciting!

I plan on getting cash, and using that for the most part, but I'll be charging my credit card for sit down meals.

POR is high on our list, especially when we have five in our party. We have been there three times. We frequent DTD (I get my beer at Hess') and I love the half chicken dinner at Wolfgang puck express.

I can't wait. This year has been very stressful at work and I simply need the escape.

It's funny I never cared for Dixie landing...but I've discovered the Mansions at Riverside and the past few trips have stayed there. Number one choice would be the Yacht Club but this is a girls trip and one of the ladies can't swing it this trip.

We will have a great time no matter where we go!

Enjoy your escape too ...:)
