One Man's Dream closing for a preview ;(

Ironically 10/16 is the day we already have planned for HS. Looking at Rope Drop through first Fantasmic. Are they actually showing the movie? Or just like an extended preview/trailer?

We've never looked at One Man's Dream before. My kids are the ones who are constantly wanting to do the B rides over and over so I'm sure we'll do Great Movie Ride and Muppets 4-5 times that day instead. :)

Secondly... This whole "they want to forget the great Walt Disney" is just silly nonsense.
Walt Disney was no Saint, and the current corporate behavior is actually pretty consistent with his own leadership. He was all about expanding the brand, maximizing profits.
If anything, Disney goes out of their way to sugarcoat the real Walt Disney and tries to elevate him into a hero, see the Tom Hanks as Walt Disney movie.

Wow - I don't see how you got all of this from the postings - that we think he is a saint. :confused3 I certainly understand Walt wasn't perfect. Some of it was the times; some of it was his personality. As Joe Dell said, it's an important history lesson which also shows how innovative the man was. Alot of people don't even know that Walt Disney was even an actual person.

an extended trailer of The Good Dinosaur

We are fortunate that One Man's Dream has been in place as long as it has.

It was meant to be exhibited for just three years or so and then the items and equipment returned to their owners.

Perhaps replicas will be made of some of the items to have One Man's Dream as a permanent attraction at both WDW and Disneyland.

Can I just say what are the heads of Disney thinking?! I get One Man's Dream is not the most popular attraction but how can you close it to bring in a preview for an upcoming movie! One Man's Dream should always be opened at the park as everyone should remember how Disney was started…or maybe heads of Disney don't want people to remember how and why it started because it goes against what they are doing with Disney now but that is besides the point. I'm just pissed that they are closing it so they can put a preview in for a movie! If I wanted to watch a preview for the movie, I would go on YouTube or some other internet site to watch it. I don't understand Disney closing an attraction to put a stupid preview in its place! So, angry right now with Disney.

I completely agree with you. Ever since the time I ws in "One Man's Dream" and I overheard a little girl say to her mother "You mean, there was a PERSON named Walt Disney? It's not just a place?" That's when I decided everyone should be required to see it. I'm planning to be in the park 10/18, and you can bet I'll be headed right over there to see. I read here somewhere that maybe just the movie at the end will change, but I think they mean the whole attraction. We can hope, though!

I was replying to this statement by OP:

"or maybe heads of Disney don't want people to remember how and why it started because it goes against what they are doing with Disney now"

If they're showing The Good Dinosaur in that theatre, then what's going on in the Sounds Dangerous building? Could it be that the new Jedi Training is going to be moving inside after all?

When we were there in Sept we talked to one the CM's for awhile and I asked her about the closing rumors. She had been told that it would be closing for the new TS Land, not sure when that will be given WDW construction timeframes. She also said that all of the museum items would be moving to the Disney Family Museum in CA. I love that attraction, so sad to see it go.

I am glad the museum will still be there. I still say they should just close down DHS until they get all their great expansions done, instead of making it a skeleton park with nothing much left to see.

First off, it's likely closing for good when they build Star Wars land and Toy Story land.

No, this is wrong.

Walt was all for reinvesting his profits back into his parks and other endeavors, something that drove Roy nuts to no end.

Just as the current leadership is constantly reinvesting, building new parks, etc.

What's also lost in the "One Man's Dream" sanitized history, is basically Walt's cruelty to workers, taking advantage of workers, crushing unions, etc.

This myth that Walt was a selfless visionary who wanted to give happiness to children, is simply a myth.

In reality, Walt was much like Steve Jobs-- both visionaries. Both produce world changing product. But they were also both jerks interested in huge profits.

And why does that matter?

REQUIRED to see it? :rotfl2:

I'd say at least half of today's park visitors don't give a damn about Walt, even if they know he was an actual person. To them he's about as significant as, oh, Herbert Hoover or some other long dead ex-president. And even more would be bored out of their minds with history lessons. Continue to visit the attraction if you like it, but let everybody else enjoy the parks on their own terms.

We're thinking of going to HS possibly around Christmas, so at least it'd be back by then. But yeah, they definitely shouldn't do previews here with it probably going soon. They used to do previews in the former Sounds Dangerous theater, that was better as that still isn't usually being used

The attraction is still open the only thing changing will be the movie at the end, you can always chose to skip it or not.
There are rumors that the actual attraction will close in the future for TSLand but nothing has been confirmed
The original Walt movie will be back December 5th

Well I hope that is true. It makes me feel a bit better but I'm still upset they would take out the Walt Movie for a stupid preview. I also think it cheapens the point of that area which is to remember Walt and how things started not to watch an ad for a new movie.

I agree that Walt wasn't a saint however I don't think corporate Disney is consistent with Walt. I think that is clearly seen in Disneyland where most of the rides are higher quality then some at WDW and the old rides are better than the new stuff being made. I mean seriously…finding Nemo ride was such a waste all they did was play a projector on a fish tank and the Little Mermaid ride…they couldn't do better animatronics then that?!

Would it be so challenging to have "rotated" the Dinosaur movie trailer with One Man's Dream?

Looks like we won't see the One Man's Dream movie at the end. As we've never done the exhibit and it will be our only chance this November I'm really disappointed. The last thing they should be doing to an exhibit rumoured to be permanently closing is messing with it while people are trying to get a chance to see it either their first time, or one last time :(

You can find the One Man's Dream movie on youtube. I know it isn't the same, but at least you can see it.

I love 'One Man's Dream' and was so disappointed when I saw this a couple of days ago. I will be there after 12/5, but I suspect the film won't be changed out that quickly [hopefully, I am wrong].

Disney has stated the film will be back on December 5th.
