"Stay home.

If it's Monday night, and you don't know what you want... Don't walk into the booth and fart out a choice.

Stay home.

If you are going into that booth and choosing to vote against the black guy. Or against the woman. Or against the old guy for that matter...

...Stay home.

I am voting for someone.
Yes, I am voting against a lot in that vote.
But it starts with being FOR something.

Or in this case, somebody.

Considering the state of the economy, and the world, your vote should not be out of spite. Considering the time and mental sweat equity people have put into this election, it's a disservice to every engaged American if you go in there simply to vote against.

So vote for something.

FOR.

Or do your country, and your neighbor a favor, and leave it to the adults."

I also think that anyone who wants to vote should vote. Sometimes undecides think it out longer than others. Voting for a president should never be taken lightly.

I'm voting, but that doesn't mean I have to vote for either of the two major candidates......Especially if I can't vote for either in good conscience.

Forgetting one small fact... a lot of us are not only voting for the POTUS/VP-we are also voting for our Sheriff's, town council members, county treasurers, school board members. We are also voting for our state reps in congress and in our state legislations.
I voted. Presidential took me the longest. Not because of who I wanted...but because of the policies I did not want.
Good thing I didn't stay home because of a POTUS race- too many other races would have been at stake.

I second both these sentiments and I am kind of shocked that the OP is advocating people not voting. That's just wrong.

I agree with you completely.

I also don't think people should vote because some one on the ballot is black, or a white man or a woman. That is just ignorant. just as someone who wont' vote for someone because of their skin color or gender.

People really needed to listen to the debates and figure out which candidate would best help the country.

Nothing wrong with taking your time to make up your mind. Absolutely no reason to take away a voter's right to vote, no matter how soon to pushing the button s/he decides. I expect there are thousands of people in line right now who still haven't decided. They still get to vote!!

The article above was based on this one that he wrote last week:

"Vote Smart or stay home!!

Left or right. Regardless of who you vote for.

It's been 21 months. People have been blathering on for this election long enough to doink, get pregnant and squirt out a kid.

People have blabbity blabbity blabbitied until they were blue OR red in the face.

And the challenges of this election have never been more black and white - pun intended.

If after all that, you still don't know, don't vote. Stay home. Watch something nice on the Tee Vee. Go to work. Play with your kids. Build a tooth pick sail boat in a bottle. I don't care.

Seriously.

I know everybody from Hillary Duff to Larry King is telling you to go out and vote. That your vote matters. That it's your right.

It's also your right to stay home and be undecided and let other people make the decision for you. You've been doing it for 20 months, why stop now? Nobody likes a quitter.

Sure, you forfeit your right to complain, but the flipside is, you don't cancel somebody out with a decision that's made in the same way that a drunk girl goes home with the wrong guy, or Steven Weber picks TV shows. I have friends who's vote will cancel mine, for reasons that are smart and deliberate. I can live with that.

Joe the Plumber would cancel my vote in Ohio. But Joe has an opinion. I think he's a jerk, but he knows who he's voting for. He's made up his mind. If I lived in Ohio, I'm okay with him canceling my vote. And I'm honored to cancel his.

But if you cancel mine out with Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe... you are a jerk.

Vote McCain. Vote Obama. I have my preferences, but I understand democracy. So I don't care, as long as you vote for good reason.

But you don't need to vote.

You don't have to vote.

It's your RIGHT to not vote.

So if you're still undecided - feel free to stay that way. And stay home.

Your country might not thank you for it, but I will. In advance."

And for the record, I strongly believe that if you have an opinion than you should vote, but if you're playing eenie, meenie - then you should stay home.

I agree. If I choose to wait until 6:55 to get in line to vote, that's my right.

Actually, I agree with you. People have had PLENTY of time to decide. They don't need to get in that booth and make a rash decision they'll regret later. Better to stay home.

I actually agree with you, OP. If you have to be TOLD by someone to go vote, then you probably don't know enough about the issues to really make an educated decision. I don't care who anyone votes for, but I want them to make their choice for the right reasons, and not just because somecelebrity told you to.

I second both these sentiments and I am kind of shocked that the OP is advocating people not voting. That's just wrong.

Same here- I actually think it's kind of obnoxious. I was undecided when i walked in to vote.

Voted for local folks easily - I knew who I wanted for Congress, mayor, etc.

Thought about who I really wanted to for for in the booth again (since many of us "undecideds" have been really mulling this over for a while) and decided while I was in there to go with my gut.

So I voted.

I would never tell anyone to stay home and not excerside thier right to vote. How sad that you think they don't deserve to have thier voices heard.

I think that is a ridiculous and insulting suggestion.. I would prefer that someone think long and hard about who (or "what") they are voting for - even if it means not deciding until today - rather than implying they aren't "worthy" of voting because they give considerable thought to such an important right..

If you read both quotes by Steve Marmel, it clearly states that it's those that vote without giving it any thought that are the problem. Those that think it through and weigh the issues are the ones that should be voting, even if it takes until the last minute to make a decision. Our forefathers went to war and many died to preserve our right to vote in this country. Those that take it lightly should be ashamed.

You know no matter how many times I typed out a response to the OP none of them were very nice. I will just leave it at that.

One should never advocate the suppression of one's right to vote for any reason. Just because you don't like their reasons for voting, it is their right to walk into that voting booth, whether they have been decided since day 1, decided last week or decided 30 seconds before they pulled the lever.

:sad2: And there are people here worried about socialism, yet we have posters advocating suppression of a citizen's rights. :sad2:

So the above is supposed to make the below less offensive - or cancel it out? Perhaps you should have reversed the order in which you posted these articles..

I never said that anyone should "take it lightly".. it was your error in the way you presented the information..

It took me until the very last day to decide who to vote for. I don't like either Obama or McCain at all. In the end, I voted for Alan Keyes.

Did I throw my vote away? I don't care. One vote for President in the state of Texas is not going to make a difference. I voted for who I thought was the best candidate. He's unlikely to win, but that is no reason not to vote.

I'll support whoever does win as my president and I'll refrain from name calling that has dominated the opposition to both of our most recent presidents. I'll probably oppose the majority of what he tries to accomplish, but I'll do it with civility and respect and I'll still accept his leadership as my President.
