I adopted my first kitten three months ago (he is now 5 months). Friends have been insisting that I get a buddy for him. However, I'm hesitant. I only wanted one cat and he is very loving and seems content by himself. We have gotten into a nice routine; playing each evening together (when I get home from work) until he gets too sleepy, then he either goes off to entertain himself or goes "to bed". He has the run of the place (a 2-bedroom condo).
Friends say I'm being cruel not to get him a play mate - is that true? Anyone just have one, perfectly content, cat? I hate to get another cat just to get another cat?! And, frankly, I'm fine with one; we have become great buddies and I guess I'm being selfish in wanting to keep it that way - but I'm sure getting pressure to do otherwise......Thoughts?

I never thought I would tell him no to a cat, but we did get 2.
