Just got a note that our flight times have changed for our American flight from Detroit to Orlando through Charlotte. I had a 2 1/2 hour layover set up before just in case of delays. Now there is just over an hour. We have seats assigned so that isn't a problem, but if there is a delay and we miss the flight....we sail the next morning on DCL so we would have to be accommodated that night, which is Easter Sunday. The Charlotte/Orlando leg is the only time that changed.
Should I call American and try to have it pushed back, or relax and hope for the best? I have some friends who sailed to Alaska on another line last summer, and were literally the last people on the ship because of flight delays and a missed connection.

as long as your flights are on time, yes. Plenty of time.

the second flight will board 30 mins prior to departure. that gives you 30 min to deplane, hit the bathroom, grab some food, and switch gates. Chalotte is not THAT big of airport.

Now if your first leg from detroit is late...you may have issues. go look at the on time performance for that flight and judge for yourself.

Pretty sure the DCL ship doesn't have an "all aboard" until 3:45, and won't go out until around 4 or 5 pm...not in the morning. Even if you should miss the connection and they can't get you out till the next morning, you should be fine.

Look up the other flights on that airline that might work better. If there are any, call them and ask to be changed to that. With a change of an hour and a half, they should change you for free.

That said, DH managed to book a flight with a 30 minute layover. I kept telling him to get that changed, but he knew there were plenty of other options and wasn't concerned. Turned out the plane he was on getting to that airport was half an hour early. And the plane he was going to was coming from the east coast and only got in 36 minutes before it was scheduled to leave again. I think we all know it can take 30 minutes just to get everyone off the plane, let alone deplane, get food loaded on and get the new batch of people on. DH was fine. Despite what I thought. :)
