Sunday Dec. 10 was my final day in the park for 2023. I just realized a few moments ago that my next day there - Jan 7 - will, in fact, be the last day of Christmas decorations. So I’ll get to see them once more this season!

As many of you know, I always enjoy watching the candy canes be made at Candy Palace. I don’t eat refined sugar so I never get one. Watching the process is enough for me. Anyway, I bumped into @DizMe and her sister at the candy window and they told me that even though they’d signed up relatively late for their candy cane, they still got one! So: you don’t have to be the first 30 or so people in line to assure your CC :-).

I’m back in Chicago and have an unpleasant cold (as opposed to a pleasant one ;-)) so this will be brief. Not much to report on my final 2023 day in the park. Crowds were perhaps a bit heavier than the previous week but weren’t especially bad by the time I left at 1:45.

A (literal) few park pics.

Rob, hope You feel better…I came home last Saturday from DL with a horrible cough and laryngitis. Been up and down all week but at least no fever or aches, not COVID (tested twice). Just nagging annoying hacking. Disney bug of some kind Even though I was masked the entire time.

So hopefully you’ll get over it quick to enjoy your time in Chicago. Happy holidays and maybe like @DizMe , I’ll run into you next year!

Do we know who any of these other high scores are from.?? (LGM, or OGB)
How long does a high score last, more than the day, does it get reset daily?

I can't imagine there is THAT many people that get their score up there.? (probably a pretty small club)

Oddly enough, I know all of those people. Well. Sort of :-).

LGM is merely a placeholder. It stands for Little Green Men. Say, for example, that you score 2M on the ride. Until you emerge and claim that score at the photo kiosk, the board will display LGM in association with it. If you never claim it for whatever reason (you’re new to the attraction and don’t know that there’s a leaderboard; your score doesn’t connect with the photo, you don’t care, etc), then it’ll simply display LGM until the end of the day/following morning. Scores are only listed for the day. I presume they’re erased when the ride is closed for the evening.

OGM is the eleven-year-old daughter of some friends who’s (obviously) pretty good herself. I heard from them just today. She broke 1M four times! Often if she doesn’t make the board, I’ll gift her one of my scores and put up her initials instead of mine. Her older brother is also really good. Come to think of it, about a month or so ago I let her have one of my 2M scores, which she loved. On days when they’re not there, I’ll often put both of their initials up anyway and send a pic of the board to their mom. I think they appreciate and enjoy that.

Something that’s important to know: until about six years ago, there was no limit to scores. Now if you exceed about 2,097,000, your score will reset and you’ll lose everything; you start again at zero. It’s happened to me countless times and it’s always infuriating. So after 1M, it’s advisable to keep track of your score in your head (as well as you can). A few weeks ago I thought I had about 2,050,000. I got greedy and took one more shot, which, thankfully, missed. Had it not, my score would have exceeded the cap and been 5,000 rather than the 2,092,000 that I’d actually earned. Phew!
