We're hoping that some nice Dis people will give us suggestions for an upcoming Easter break stay. There will be five of us- me, DH, DS16, DD9, and DS16's friend, also 16. DS's friend has never been out of state, no less to WDW, so we're really excited to show him around. :)

Our problem is that we're not sure where to stay for our first day of the trip. We'll be driving down (unless we can snag some cheap flights,) staying our first night at WDW, driving south for a few days at the beach, then heading back for a week at the Swan. We only want to book one room for that first night, but we would like to stay at a deluxe without going too high-end. We have been considering the AKL becuse of its great themimg and the fun pool and the CR becuase of its theming and monorail location. We don't plan on going in any parks that day.

Which resort and room location/view would you recommend? We are worried about construction noise and don't want to look at a parking lot. We would really like a room with a balcony because of the two stinky teenage boys!:rotfl:

TIA for any help!:goodvibes

Construction is going on at AKL, but I'm unsure how long that is scheduled to continue.

YC or BC might be a good alternative if you need to avoid construction woes and noise. The pool area is terrific and there's lots to do between there and the nearby Boardwalk. Lots of eating choices too. Some room categories have balconies.

The Poly is another option or the tower at CR with MK views.
.

I'd do a MK area resort. You'll be at the swan later, so you'll have plenty of time at the boardwalk area later. If you stay at a monorail resort, you can resort hop, which is one of my favorite things to do. You can go to the Poly or GF beaches to watch the fireworks, and have a ton of dining options.

AK does have the animals to entertain you, but the dining options there are limited.

I agree with the other posters.... I would pick either CR or Yacht and Beach. CR would be fun because of the many activities right at the resort including the big game room.

I would pick a MK resort. Like the other poster had said you'll be at the Swan so you would already be near the Boardwalk and the Beach club so try for something different. Personally We like the Polynesian with its garden area and the pool is great. Another advantage is sitting on the beach and watching the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. But then again, no matter what you pick, it's Disney!
Good luck picking.
