One day tickets with a package?

If we have to purchase 1 day base ticket to get a package (such as for the hoped for free dining) but already have other tickets, can anyone use those never used one day tickets from the package or are they non transferrable?

we had to book one day tickets last year during free dining. We used them ourselves even though we had other tickets. Our other tickets are park hopper no expiry so the single day we used at the Animal Kingdom because my wife likes that park a lot and it closes at 5 so we could easily spend the whole day there. We just booked it for the middle of the trip, went to the park all day, went to our room and changed and rested a bit and then went to a reservation at Ohanas for dinner where we could see wishes from our table (or Hallowishes in that case because it was a day that had MNSSHP)

That can be a very costly way to use tickets.

Depends on how many days you had left on your other non-expiry tickets.

If you had 4 days left on the other (non-expiry) tickets, you paid about $84 per person to visit a park that otherwise might have only cost $20 per person, or so.

You could have saved your ($$) one-day tickets to use and/or upgrade on a future trip, and received the full gate
value for one-day tickets at the time of the future upgrade.

Do they activate it when they issue it to you?
We will have AP, but our kids will not, and are looking at booking a package this way for the giftcard this June, so I would love clarification. It would be great if DH and I could save our tickets toward an AP renewal in the future.

They remain valid forever until used and/or upgraded.

MYW passes expire 14 days from first use (unless you buy the no expiration). Since one day tickets can only be used once, they don't expire and don't need the no expiration feature.

OK now my simple question is going to get complicated.


This was just an idea I had.
Assuming we had to purchase 1 day base tickets for 8 for free dining and 7 of us have GAD vouchers.

Mom- upgrade GAD ticket to 4 day base

Child 1- Disney Adult- upgrade GAD ticket to 4 day base

Child 2- Disney Adult- upgrade GAD ticket to 4 day base

Child 3-Disney Adult- upgrade1 day ticket from pkg to 4 – use GAD later for FP option*

Child 4- Disney Adult- upgrade1 day ticket from pkg to 4 – use GAD later for FP option*

Child 5-Disney Child- upgrade 1 day ticket from pkg to 4- use GAD later for FP option*

Child 6- Disney Child-no GAD -too young- uprade 1 day ticket from pkg to 4

Dad- use Dad 1 day ticket from pkg for Day 1, use Mom's 1 Day ticket from pkg for Day 2, use Child 1 1 day ticket from pkg for Day 3, use Child 2 1 day ticket from package for Day 4 (We could not use his GAD for FP because he doesn't have a multi day ticket so we would probably donate it)

We would do all ticket upgrades on our Day 1 after entering the park.

*use two GAD (Child 3 and Child 4) vouchers on Day 2 for group FP - I know one GAD voucher is good for up to 6 but since we have 8 we would need to use 2 GAD vouchers

*use 1 GAD voucher on Day 3 (Child 5) for 6 group FP- just let the older 5 kids use them with Dad while youngest and Mom do rides together or use regular FP

I know having Dad use 1 day tickets isn't the always a good idea but in this case, our out of pocket would be a little cheaper than upgrading the GAD and keeping all the 1 day tickets AND the kids get 2 days of extra FP

Would this be possible?

Upgrade one one day ticket to two days (to make it multi-day) using money only for Dad and then he can redeem his GAD voucher for fast passes. You will have one one day ticket left over for the future.
