I've been going back and forth on getting a limo...Rates were either $170 plus gratuity for a true limo or $100 plus gratuity for a van...

Well, then I looked into the cost of renting a car for 1 day at each end of my trip...total cost $86. We have a mini van, for 24 hrs on each end of our trip. My grocery stop won't feel rushed and if we want to drive some where at least for those few hours we will be able to...and the drop off is conviently located at the Dolphin resort...

Has anybody else done this and if you have did it work out OK???

I've been trying to figure out the same thing but havne't gotten a reply yet? It seems so much easier and less expensive to just rent a car, but I didn't know where to drop it off. And it seemns like we must be missing something or why aren't people doing it?

thanks, lene

WE DO IT!! every time! and it works out great! last time our rental from airport, to visit relatives for lunch, to hotel to check-in/drop off luggage and then to the dolphin to drop off was only about $24!!! MUCH cheaper than a taxi/limo... we had the car for about 8 hours... never would have thought of it 'cept for the fact that we have to visit my 85yo aunt who lives about 45 mins from disney...
typically, though, it's not worth the hassle to re-rent on our departure morning so we just take a cab... last time it cost about $45 for a yellow taxi... more money but door to door service...
(btw, you can only rent national as they are the only company w/services at the dolphin)

We've decided to do the same thing this trip. We're renting a minivan at MCO to get to WDW and will drop it off the next day. On the day we leave, we're going to pick up another minivan at the Dolphin and drive to MCO. Since we're splitting our stay between Saratoga Springs and BWV, I looked around and found out I can drop off the first rental car at the Wyndham hotel across from Disney Marketplace instead of the Dolphin or the car care center by Epcot. By the way, you can rent from National or Alamo now. They both have on-site WDW counters. Hey, how did you get a total of $86 for both rentals? The best I could do is $95! (We're going for Halloween.) I've been waiting for the fall rental codes to come out because I want to change my first one-day rental to a three-day rental so we can drive from SSR to BWV and not have to do the luggage transfer. Right now a three-day minivan rental is around $150. I'm hoping to get it around $100 if I can. Which car company are you using? Thanks!

I do 1 way car rentals all the time - last time was from my house to the airport for my flight to Australia.....a lot less expensive than doing the Super Shuttle (blue van...like Mears).

I am heading to the World and plan to do 1 way rentals in Sept. I will be staying part of the time at Sheraton Vistana, and they work with some companies that have counters in different hotels in Dtwn Disney (Budget is at the Doubletree, Avis is at the Hilton).

I think this is a great way of doing things....you get more time for usually less $.

Hope this helps!

I had been thinking about doing this and thought maybe it was a crazy idea. I'm so happy to have read this thread! Thank you!!
