We are going on a two week long California road trip starting in LA on August 17. I have one day for either US or DL. I really want to go to DL but if one day isn’t worth it, is one day enough for US?

I would pick Disneyland over Universal Studios. Universal Studios is good for a 3/4 day in my opinion, and if you go over there you might want to plan on doing something else while you're in the area (even if it's an evening at City Walk exploring the stores and having dinner there.

Agree -- USH can be done (technically) in half a day if you have to. DLR can fill several days, so filling one day is no problem. If you choose DLR, try to stay near the parks, preferably walking distance, the night before so that you can be at rope drop to make the most of your park time.

What I meant by being worth it...will we able to see and do enough in one day to make it worth going? $350-400 for one day is pretty steep.

As for rope drop....my DBF sleeps like he’s a teenager so I doubt that’s possible.

Maybe US is the park for us, even though I have my heart set on DL. :(

Why not DCA? Admittedly, same price as DL, but you would see it all in one day.

What do you want to see and do in DL and/or DCA? Do you want to stick to one park in a day or try to do both parks in a day? This will make a big difference in what you can accomplish. Will there be kids in your group? Does anyone in your group have mobility issues? Will you stay until park closing? If you just want to see Walt's original park and soak in as much magic as possible in a day, hit some rides, but know that you can't see it all -- more like a test drive for a future visit -- then one day should enough. If you want to "do it all," then even for just one park, without rope drop, it's going to be very tough. Let us know what you want to accomplish -- that will give us a much better idea of whether DLR in one day will be "worth it" for you. :)

DL is a better value, even if it costs a lot more. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck. Go with DL. You can decide later if you want to do park hopper.

theluckyrabbit, I think you hit the nail on the head. I just want to "see Walt's original park and soak in as much magic as possible in a day, hit some rides, but know that you can't see it all "

That really helps me make up my mind. :) DL it is!
