we only have one day (half day, really) on Friday in Universal and we don't know which park would be best. there's not enough time for a dual park ticket.

we are two families with a total of four kids. one boy age 7, three girls ages 8, 5 and 5.

which park would you choose? thanks.

I would check Universal's web site and check out the attractions at both parks and height requirements. For kids of ages between 5 and 8, I would say there is bit more for them in Universal Studios than in Islands of Advernture. However, it may depend on what type of attractions your kids like.

Depending on when you will be going there is the new Harry Potter opening in spring.

I actually think IOA is better for the younger crowd with Suess landing and the Jurassic park play area. My 4yo liked spiderman. What do the kids like?

IOA for sure. Suess landing is the best. My boys were 7 and 8 when we went last Nov. Of course we are huge Dr. Suess fans. They also loved the Jurassic park area. They loved the spider man ride, and the toon lagoon area. They got a huge kick out of the talking fountain. I think the different lands are really themed well.

We were there over New Years and could only do 1 park, so we chose the Studios part. We have a 7 yr daughter who is not overly adventerous. She liked the kids rollercoaster (Woody's) and ET ride alot, did fine on MIB, Jaws, and the Simpsons and actually enjoyed the castostrophe ride that goes on a subway (forget the name!). Theres also Shrek and Nick Toons simulator rides (just ok, as they arent the smoothest). We didn't do the Mummy coaster but DH did the RRR and said it was actually not that thrilling, as they keep slowing you down. The animal show was cute, as well. So lots to enjoy for all ages. Hope this helps.

OP, I think it is in your best interest to check-out Universals site and check out the rides and their height requirements to see where you stand from there with your children.

We did both parks in one day with our children (DS 11 and DD 9). We got there right when the park opened and hit IOA first and rode all the rides we wanted. We were done around lunch time and headed over to Univ Studios. It was a very full day but there wasn't anything that we missed. Keep in mind that we went in October where the crowds were much smaller, but it worked great for us.

We were mixed on which place we liked better. I liked IOA better because I LOVED Spiderman and the Hulk. Even Jurassic Park was awesome. My husband liked Univ Studios better.
