One day in Tampa

We will be in Tampa for one day. Will Fly in at around noon and probably head our to disney about 1 the next day. Are biggest intrest is the beach. My son would like to check out shops to buy shark teeth and Megladon teeth. Any ideas on where to stay and where to shop.

We like to take a day trip to Madeira Beach. The beach is very nice and there are a lot of great shops in St Johns Pass. If you like seafood, eat at Sculleys.

We are staying at the Hilton in Clearwater Beach. I can't comment on how good it is yet, but it is in an area that is busy with restaurants and the pier. I know there are shops nearby, but don't know everything they sell. This pics of the beach look great though. Very wide and white.

If you want a hotel on the beach, be sure to read the description. I don't know if it is true for other beaches, but not too many hotels are right on the beach in Clearwater.

My husband and father-in-law are considering going to Tampa on 9/27 if they can get tickets to the NY Giants/Tampa Bay Bucs game. Both huge Giants fans have been priced out of going to the home games, and were hoping to find affordable tickets for the game in Tampa. We planned the Disney trip last Sept. on the bounce back offer and were happy the dates lined up.

Now my ? is if they can get tickets where can they rent a car for 1 day in the middle of our vacation? We were not planning on renting since we are staying right at the Pop.

You can rent a car from the Car Care Center. There is an Alamo there. You can make a reservation online, then call within 24 hours and have them pick you up at the POP. You return car to the CCC and they will drop you back off at the POP or the Disney theme parks. We did this last trip and it was very convenient. I did the check in at the kiosk, so I didn't even have to wait in line, just went to a window and pick up the keys and drove off.

We stayed at a 4-star Intercontinental near the airport recently for just $67 per night via Priceline. It was in a great location, with a mall right by it. Free parking too.
