I'll be spending the day in NYC on Monday July 27th.

The Met is closed. :( I've always wanted to go there since I read _From the mixed up files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiller_ as a kid.

I've been to the Empire state building.
I'm not that interested in seeing the statue of liberty.

It's restaurant week - so which restaurant of the 250 would you recommend?

It's me and one friend. What else can we do that's pretty cheap?

I'll definitely drag her to World of Disney. :lovestruc and she's going with me to Tiffany's to "visit" my ring.

I'm not sure if the MoMA is up her alley.

Nougatine and Cafe or Bar Boulud are all excellent, though popular enough that they may be sold out.

The Staten Island Ferry is free and a fun "tour," that or walking on the Brooklyn Bridge. You can also visit Ground Zero.

See a movie in Bryant Park: http://www.freenyc.net/archives/2009/07/27/

Need you ask? :teeth:

I'd head directly for the Village and enjoy! ::yes:: Loads of wonderful little shops and places to eat or have a drink. It's a great place to explore. ::yes::

I think they may be some off broadway shows
playing on mondays....whats really a blast though
is heading to the regis & Kelly show. They are
great and interact with the audience during commercial
breaks.FUN!:)

My friend went to one taping on her last visit. I think it was david letterman.
And she saw Wicked on Broadway. (I'm so jealous! I only get to see the touring version when it comes to Nashville in September)

I'd love to see one of the Disney shows, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I saw Beauty and the Beast when they came to Nashville - I was disappointed.

We get to travel for work, so anytime we're near the city, we try to take an extra day.

Do you have to make reservations for restaurant week?

I know my dad really enjoyed the museum of natural history years ago, so I'll check that out online.

The Disney shows are well worth the price, most tours are scaled down versions, but unfortunately all three are dark on Mondays (like alot of shows on Broadway). However, Next to Normal does have a Monday evening show at 8pm. I haven't seen it, but it is high on my list to see. It won a Tony for best original score and was nominated for best musical.

We're considering going to NYC to do Ellis Island in day if that's possible. I think it would be an interesting place to visit.

I would take the Circle Line tour boat around Manhattan and do the double decker bus tour, Macys and Central Park

I would definitely make sure I hit one of the Broadway shows.. we were there last year and unfortunately did not get to do this.. Its on my to do list whenever we make it back there one day..

Hmm restaurant week -
go for lunch

My top 3 on the list this year would be

Aquavit

Ben Benson

Mesa Grill

And what to do? I would shop and see a show.

MOMA, West Village, Central Park, a great pizza in the Village, Circle Line, top of the double decker bus tour all around the city, Staten Island Ferry. If the weather is great definitely spend your time outside as much as possible and people watch.
