Making a quick trip in April and will only have one day in each park. Besides the rides what are some little not obvious must do's that we should not miss?

I'm looking forward to being able to take the train since I couldn't take the one in WDW!
I like DLR’s so much better so you’re picking the right one 😉 Due to the park size the train showcases a lot more of the park to me than the one at WDW. Riding the train through it’s a Small World? Also awesome, and definitely not available at WDW! (That’s going from toontown to Tomorrowland).

TBH I didn't have a choice lol. I do love the train in MK but it has been closed for 2 years because of the Tron construction. I love the differences between the 2 can can appreciate both of them so I'm looking forward to what the DL one has that WDW doesn't.

This is kind of geeky/nerdy and may only appeal to someone who is super into Disney history. It also takes less than five minutes. Stand in the hub near the partners statue. Look and see how all of the major lands connect to the main hub. This is what Disney imagined/envisioned, and now it's a place you can see. Also, Disneyana on Main Street is awesome for those into Disney history as well. They have a map/model of Disneyland on opening day.

I'm a huge Disney nerd to it's right up my alley! Thanks! I also want to make sure I see the bench and the carousel horse.

I forget what it’s called, but a gold
construction spike is under the castle walkthrough.

The window displays on Main Street. The porch, if it’s ever open.

Do you mean jingles, as far as horse? Funny story… we use the DAS fur our kids with disabilities. So, we get on the carousel and it’s chaos just getting them on horses and buckled. One of our relatives took pix of us from the side. We’re looking later and…DH was on jingles. No wonder we got the side eye from a few people. 🤣 We had no clue and he didn’t even know what it meant when I started laughing at the pix.

No I meant the one they have next to Walt's bench that was from the carousel his daughters rode but now I need to know the story of Jingles!

So one thing we love to do at MK is grab a small breakfast and sit in the chairs in front of the Plaza restaurant and take in the view of the castle and that whole area. Is there somewhere like that in DL? Also where is a good place for a QS breakfast like cinnamon rolls or other bakery items?

Yes, Jolly Holliday. Grab and go breakfast and patio seating outside. We always get a shot of the Matterhorn while eating a Matterhorn macaroon. There are some tables there that should give you a view.
