If I were to cancel one day of an existing reservation within thirty days of arrival, how are those points handled? Do they go back into my account as if they were never used and thus I can bank them or do they go into a special holding account where I would have to use them prior to the end of the UY?

They go into the holding account and can only be used for reservations 60 days or less from the time of making the reservation. I do not think you can bank or transfer these points.

Holding account points are an entity unto themselves. They can only be used 60 days out from the date of booking, andI'm not sure they can be used at the end of your use year or not. (I'll look that up in my paperwork) At any rate, they can NOT be banked.

Copied from an old thread fyi...

What are Vacation Points in holding?
A Holding Account is a "parking space" for Vacation Points from a Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation that has been changed or cancelled 30 days to 1 day before your scheduled check-in date. Here are some guidelines regarding usage of Holding Account Vacation Points:

These Vacation Points can be used for a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation during your current Use Year as long as the reservation is booked 60 or less days before the new check-in date.

These Vacation Points can be used for an exchange through The Disney Collection, World Passport Collection, Concierge Collection, or Adventurer Collection if you're making the reservation 60 or less days before the new arrival date, and more than 60 days before the end of your current Use Year.

These Vacation Points cannot be banked or borrowed.

These Vacation Points will expire at the end of their Use Year if they aren't used.

Here is what I copied from the member website.

Holding Account
Read about how to use Vacation Points from a previously changed reservation.

Any time you change or cancel a Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation 30 days to one day before your scheduled arrival date, the Vacation Points used for that reservation are put into a Holding Account.

What you need to know about using Holding Account Vacation Points:

You can use these Vacation Points for a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation during your current Use Year as long as you book the reservation 60 or less days before the new check-in date.
You can use these Vacation Points for an exchange through The Disney Collection, Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection, and World Passport Collection if you make the reservation 60 or less days before the new arrival date and more than 60 days before the end of your Use Year.
You cannot bank or borrow these Vacation Points.
These Vacation Points will expire at the end of your Use Year if they aren't used.

Here's something interesting. It USED to be 30 days before to make a reservation instead of 60!! YIKES, that would be impossible now!

-Arrival Date or Check-in Date?

We have four reservations, the first and second are in a one bedroom and they are linked. The next is in a two bedroom and the forth is back in a one bedroom. We will be continuously staying at the BCV.

Am I correct in saying that if I were to cancel the last day of this 21 day stay, I would have to cancel it 51 days before the desired cancellation day? That would be almost two month prior to the days reservation. The "check-in date" would be 30 days prior to moving back into the one bedroom unit.

No - the last day of the reservation is part of a separate reservation - since you are moving from a 2BR into a 1BR. You will need to cancel that 30 days BEFORE the first day of that reservation to avoid the Holding Account status.

If you were in the 1BR for the entire stay (linked together and all at 1 resort) then you would have to cancel that last day 30 days prior to the first day of the reservation even though it would be 51 days before the day being cancelled.
