One Bedroom Worth It?

We have added on points twice with the intention of staying more in 1BRs. But the more we add, we keep saying ā€œwell if we just go studio we can get an extra trip in and skip the 1BR this timeā€. It’s a terrible problem to have. We’ve got a 1BR trip coming up finally and I’m looking forward to the room more than the actual time in the parks haha

I told myself I wouldn't do another crazy split night stay and here I am thinking 2 nights riv 1 bedroom, 4 nights riv studio (already booked), 2 nights PIT 1 bdrm, 5 nights BLT studio, 4 nights PIT Studio, and 4 nights poly studio. Now i have no idea how I'm going to pull this off with such a late reservation, but this is what I'm thinking right now 🤣🤣

I did not get into time sharing to stay in a glorified hotel room.
Exactly!
So on the plus side of "needing" a 1 Bedroom for just the 2 of us every trip, we are so glad that we own DVC and can do these things-come back at the end of the day and pull some ice cream out of the freezer for a snack, do the laundry while we sit and watch TV (or have some more ice cream), get up in the morning and eat pancakes, etc.

One of the reasons I have so many points now (initially I believed I was going to be totally fine with 150) is that 1BRs are a totally different type of vacation and much more enjoyable than Studios. As I didn’t want to make my trips shorter, I just got more resale points lol

I still stay at Studios when the trip is going to be park heavy.

Yeah it kind of surprised me when I stayed in the studio that the bed was a queen bed. Didn't like how one of us would be stuck on the Murphy bed/pullout. I think we would enjoy a one bedroom much more especially since sometimes we enjoy staying at the resort more than the parks

Well, my travel history sort of addresses this. When my Mom and I first bought in 1992, we were going to Disney every 6 months, and a studio was fine for us, as we were used to staying a regular deluxe room, and the studios at OKW have 2 queen beds. After a few trips, we stayed in a one bedroom. So then we added points to switch between a one bedroom and a studio every other trip. By 1996 we had enough points (345) for two 1 week trips in a one bedroom every year, plus some extra. This enabled us to occasionally save points and invite friends & family for a two bedroom, usually a lock-off.

I think I'm going to do the switch as well and book the studios first to end with a bang šŸŽ†

It was so easy to fall into that situation, wasn't it?! More points was definitely the answer!! What many might not realize, though, is you probably paid $60ish per point in 92, and perhaps $70ish(?) in 96!! We bought in 93 - always love OKW as the original.....

Actually, we paid an average of $53.50 per point for the 345 total over the years.
