I read in a recent thread that some people were disappointed that they could not stay in a one bedroom with five people. Are you precluded by DVC? DW and I have three children (ages 10, 8, 6) and we were told by the sales rep that we could put five in a one bedroom but DVC will not provide a cot (which we are o.k. with). So, was she misrepresenting or was she accurate? Obviously this is important because it affects points. Also, I think the two bedroom is too big for our family, currently that is.

The stated policy is 4 people and a child under 3. It seems that in recent years many reps have provided the information you were given. No cots or bedding will be provided.

The pros and cons of this policy and member satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the oral policy have led to many a heated debate on these boards.

I don't know how strictly DVC enforces this, but according to the Member Guidebook a one-bedroom vacation home is designed to sleep 4. They appear lenient when a baby in a crib is the 5th person but most people I know adhere to the guidelines because any more than 4 in a 1BR is uncomfortable and also puts extra wear/tear on the unit.

Be aware that if the 5 of you try pool-hopping (or stay at BCV and go to SAB) when/where IDs are being checked, you will only have 4 registered guests - thus only 4 IDs. I'd question your guide about this.

We just joined DVC and our sales guide also told us that it was OK to have 5 in a room. Our kids are currently 7,5 and 2 but the youngest will be 3 when we go on our first trip. She said we would have to provide our own bedding which is not a problem. Our confirmation we received for our stay at BCV in June 2003 had 5 people on it. I assume they will give us 5 IDs. I guess we'll just wait and see.

This is a huge debate.....
So I am not commenting on the how many issue...

But I do want to say that I dont think you will find the 2 bedroom to be too big for your family......... It is really nice, to have the kids in bed, and still be able to muck around the kitchen and living room....... Now, maybe too many points...... but never TOO BIG...
;)

Hi AEN and welcome to the DIS! In the past the topic of 5 in a studio or one bedroom has become too heated for our discussion board. You can feel free to visit our Debate Board to discuss the issue however. The webmasters of this site have deemed the topic off limits for the DVC board however.
