One more observation from Ep 4 that I forgot to post:
Rumple was basically fencing stolen goods for Jiminy. Interesting that he runs Storybrooke's pawn shop.![]()
I get the strong impression too that Regina and Mr. Gold go a long ways back and have quite the history together. Their animosity towards each other (while pretending to be civil - they seem to "dance" around each other) is very hostile. Seems pretty clear they've been enemies for a long time. I'm dying to know their prior relationship.
I thought that way in the beginning too but he's much too important of a character at this point. He must have some motivation.
We know why he went after the dagger and killed Zoso. He wanted to save his son from the Ogre war but he also had something to prove personally. He was tired of being the town coward.
Once he had the power he became the extreme opposite of town coward. The soldier, Hordor, didn't recognize him at first. Even his son looked at him as if he wasn't sure it was his father.
So is this where Rumpel learns that all magic comes with a price? "Ultimate Power" must be pretty costly.
"That's the thing about children. Before you know it... you lose them."
Maybe that's why Baelfire isn't in Storybrooke.
Assuming he's gotten over his "town coward" revengeful rage, what motivates Rumpel now? I wonder where the dagger is. What if someone else took it? Maybe the curse caused the its owner to forget who they are. It would give Mr. Gold 28 years to retrieve the dagger. Once he had back in his possession he would help the "Savior" to end the curse sending him back to Fantasyland with the power back under his own control.
That is what bugs me. Rumpel in essence gave instructions to the Queen on how to enact the curse knowing full well that the curse could be broken and how. He has then since been orchestrating things in order to bring about the end of the curse. Why? He helped her with the curse for a reason so he must want something from it or, more likely, from her (hence the "please" portion of the agreement).

I'm thinking he didn't "quite" lie, but meant "she is dead" figuratively. The woman he once knew and loved is "dead" replaced by a woman who is a little more "evil" perhaps, lol.
The more I think about Regina being his wife the more I like it.... even though he told the boy his mother was dead... she was, she became something else entirely. Maybe she confided in Snow that her husband was the one that caused the turn in the ogre war and Snow told the King....

Ok, here's my theory, sparked by Mermaid02 - EQ is/was Rumpel's wife. At some point, EQ started to view Rumpel as a coward, she learned about magic, got some powers, and they split. (This is only season 1, so there's a lot of back story they need to reveal to us.) Rumpel still loves her, and wants to "save" her from her evil powers. Hence, she's only "dead" metaphorically, not physically.
Rumpel saw his chance to gain some power by getting the Dark Lord's sword, but unfortunately he wasn't prepared for how it would change him. After some time (maybe while he was locked up in jail in Fairy Tale Land), he managed to learn to control his power. EQ knew about Rumpel's power and asked him for the curse. He gave EQ the curse, hoping that she'd find out on her own that using power for evil was wrong. (Needing the heart of a loved one - maybe Rumpel hoped that EQ would NOT take her father's heart, but she did.) Rumpel figured that if EQ enacted the curse and changed everyone's lives that she'd realize the "error of her ways" and they'd be reunited. Love conquers all, they lived happily ever after, etc., etc.
Yeah, I know it sounds kind of crazy, but parts of that theory make sense. At least to me they do!![]()

That kills the theory that the boy is the "love of her life" doesn't it?So... she left Rumple and her baby?
FWIW, I don't think the Evil Queen is a magical being. She's human. Snow called her a "witch." She acquires magic from other places, it doesn't originate in her. The sleeping spell came from Maleficent, "The Curse" came from Rumpel. I don't believe she has magical attributes that would be passed to a child just by nature. If he is the EQ's son, what powers does he possess?

I've been lurking, and am fascinated by all of these theories! I'm not sure it's possible for Regina to be both the Miller's daughter AND Rumpel's former love. This boy was born BEFORE his father acquired magical powers. Even if she, as the millers daughter was reunited with rumpel years later when he appeared to son straw into gold, she would've known his name, which defeatsthe purpose of his little name game.
Now what I'm wondering, is how, if teenaged jiminy met school aged gepetto, how is gepetto an old man compared to a middle aged jiminy in storybrooke? Unless he didn't age as a cricket...
Lana Parrilla tweeted that she will be on both the View and Live with Kelly this Friday.![]()
Yeah! I set Kelly to record but The View says its a salute to One Life to Live.
Maybe she's recording The View on Friday to be aired another day??
Okay, she actually tweeted that she was heading to NY to be on "The Chew" and Live with Kelly. I assumed she meant "The View." Could there be another show that she was talking about? Here is her twitter acct: https://twitter.com/#!/LanaParrilla
I watch The Chew everyday. Love it! It's on ABC at 1pm here. It's mostly a cooking show, but they do occasionally have guests who aren't known for cooking.Okay, she actually tweeted that she was heading to NY to be on "The Chew" and Live with Kelly. I'm confused. Why would you assume she meant The View if she said The Chew?
ETA
I just checked the schedule and she is on The Chew on Friday
