We were thinking of having a character breakfast again this morning, but we decided to go to the Chuck Wagon Cafe instead (I think it was that one
).
The food was as good as ever and I loved the opportunity to be able to look round the restaurant and check out the theming which is as good as anything I have seen at DLRP.
We decided during breakfast that we weere going to brave the crowds and go for Crush's coaster. As many of you will be aware, this requires meticulous planning and preparation (mainly donning American Football style pads and psyching yourself up
)
We made it to the entrance of WDS by about 0900hrs to be greeted by a huge crowd congregating outside the two active gates. Luckily I was awake and about 10 minutes later, I saw a cast member heading over towards a gate that wasn't open. On a bit of blind faith, I followed him, and sure enough he opened up another 2 gates and me and DW were first in line!!
Donald, Goofy and Pluto all made an apperance, but they moved about 2 minutes before the turnstiles opened (smart move!) The turnstiles opened and typically even after all my cheek and managing to get to the front, the CM wasn't paying attention and the other turnstiles were letting ion whilst we were frustratingly waiting.
I said to DW that I would go and join the queue for the queue line (I know what you're thinking and yes, I thought that was crazy as well!). I sprinted through Studio 1 (Bad I know), but I made it to Crush's pre queue line with about 10 people in front of me! Bonus!
DW soon joined me and we waited for the park to open properly. We made it onto Crush about 10 minutes later and it was on here that I spotted the first of the four hidden mickey's! It was made out of the mines (What Dory thinks are baloons in the movie) and it was up in the corner just before you go up the lift hill.
Great ride as always and we then moved onto Radiator Springs. We met one of the Rats from Ratatouille, (cant remember her name) just before riding Cars. We headed back towards Studio 1, but were stopped in our tracks by a CM clearing the path for a morning parade that I hadn't seen advertised. It was only small, but very good (wouldn't expect anything else from DLRP!)
I left DW to go and get us a drink from Studio 1 as I headed to get fastpasses for ToT. After riding ToT for what seemed like the 100th (nerve-racking) time, we decided to go over to the Magic Kingdom. One more character was on the cards before hand though!
I have always been annoyed at the hug rush for characters and the fact that parents will happily push their kids in front of others to get an autograph. Characters cant do anything and it leads to a mass brawl. This all changed in Hollywood Boulevard though. Cruella De Vill was out and we went to meet her. There was a hug crowd of people pusshing and shoving trying to get to meet her and causing her a problem. A car was behind her and she couldn't move, so she said that she wouldn't sign any more autographs unless everyone moved back and stopped pushing. She said that she needed space and that people who pushed and shoved wouldn't get one.
She was very very good. She stayed in Character the whole time but stuck to her guns. At one point (when she started to get really annoyed after kids were shoving their autograph books in her face, she said "Darlings, I can see your books, there is no need to put them in my mouth"! I thought that was brilliant. She stopped again and said Im not signing unless people ask nicely. I want people to say please, si vous plait etc. DW pops up and says please and Si vous plait straight away and sure enough Cruella asked her to come forward for a photo. We were stood at the back, due to not wanting to add to the mayhem and Cruella parted the crowd to let DW through and for me to take a photo - I was very impressed!!
After the excitement of that, we finally made our way over to the Magic Kingdom.
We arrived at the Magic Kingdom just in time for the Character express (again). This time, we managed to meet Robin Hood, one of the country bears and Rafiki (good effort all round
)
We went and had some lunch at Caseys (always good food) and then headed over to POTC which is always a good choice for straight after eating. I then ran off to get a fastpass for Indiana Jones and we had a bit of time to spare just walking around the park and taking in the rays (it was very hot again!)
After Indiana Jones we went over to the DLH to meet the characters at 1600hrs. We managed to meet Tigger and Gideon which was brilliant and then we walked back to the park to go on IASW.
DW wasn't feeling very well, so we decided to have an early night and head back to the Cheyenne. I went to the garage by the Santa Fe to pick up some food for us and we fell asleep by about 2000hrs that night ready for our character breakfast at 0830hrs the following day.
