I am apologizing ahead of time for asking a question that I am sure has already been answered, but I have been digging through threads and can't find the exact information:
1. Dates of the Marathon in January and what exactly are we dealing with in terms of crowds?
2. Is there a cheerleading week following the marathon? If so, what are the dates? Do they all stay at value resorts? Any specific ones?
3. Any other dates in January we should avoid or be aware of due to crowds?
4. For all of these things, this in January! Are we really talking crowds of the summer kind???

Can't answer too many of your questions but the marathon is the weekend of the 12th & 13th.

I was at WDW for the marathon in 2004. At that time both the full and half marathon were held on Sunday. Now the half is on Saturday and the full is on Sunday. I thought the MK was pretty crazy on the Saturday in 2004 but I'm sure the way they do it now disperses the crowds a lot better.

I am planning a trip for my DS's 7th birthday which is the 10th. I'm hoping the dates I've chosen for the trip (Sunday the 6th through Friday the 11th) won't be too bad for us.

I am interested in this info too! We were going to go first week in February but I want to avoid Mardi Gras week.

Marathon is 1/10 - 1/13. I had trouble trying to find the cheerleading/dance info so if anyone has it that would be great!

I'm hardly a January veteran, but we have gone the last two January's. In 2006, we were there for marathon weekend, and left Sun of MLK weekend. The marathin wasn't bad, but the crowds did increase noticeably for MKL weekend. Not as bad as summer time, but ride times, and counter service places definitley showed the increase in people. In 2007, we arrived on Sat of MLK weekend, and missed the marathon altogether, and noticed the crowds clear out after Monday (MLK day). After September, January is our favorite time to visit. The weather is usually awesome, and the crowds are very manageable.
