Hello. Looks like my May 2013 plans are falling through so we are moving our 9 night trip to 4/15-4/24 2013. In doing this we will now be short 8 points. If I understand correctly I can book the first 8 nights and at 7 months with the 8 newly bought points I can book the last night. My concern is we are going to be at BLT (home) in a dedicated 2 bedroom. Will I even get the needed last night at 7 months? Is there a better option? Thanks!

Why not just borrow points from your next year?

If you mean a 2BR standard view, your chances of getting that last night at 7months are low. If you mean lake or MK view, they are probably very good.

Options are to borrow points or seek a BLT transfer of points from another member.

I have read on previous threads that you can get upto 25 pts for a one time use towards a reservation from DVC. Sort of like renting them from disney, I'm not sure what the cost per point is.

We're booking lake view, so maybe a chance?

You can borrow up to 25 points at $15 a point. I only need 8 so not bad, but it's the waiting until 7 months that has me worried.

You can purchase up to 24 points at $15 per point once per Use Year. This may only be done at 7 months.

Good luck with your reservation! :)

i have just bought at AKV and was told you can buy up to 24 points once a year at $15 per point to finish off a specific planned trip. but nothing was mentioned about only being able to do so at the 7 month window. if your trip is at any but your home resort this isn't a factor but if its your home resort it might be an issue to inquire about if you can but the points at the 11 month time frame. has anyone bought points from Disney at their home resort in the 11 to 7 month booking window?:wizard:

It doesn't matter if it's your home resort or not you can only buy these points at the 7 month window.

I would suggest booking your missing night on cash. That way, you at least have your reservation. If you can get it at 7 months using the one-time use points, then you can cancel your cash night. If you book through MS, they can link the reservation so it is treated as one, single stay.

We are going to *try* to do this for our HHI trip next year. We usually book a 1BR but we invited my parents to join us so we'll need a 2BR. Since HHI is an "every-third-year" trip for us, we used all of our banked, current and borrowed points to secure 4 of the 5 nights. I booked the extra night on member cash (currently only $250, but that is the 2012 price) so that we have all 5 of our nights. In order to book all 5 nights on points, we are 7 points short. At 7 months, I'm hoping to buy 4 one-time use points and combine them with my 3 straggling AKV points to book that last night. If I am successful, I will cancel my cash night.

(We actually have 2 nights booked on cash right now. We were planning to arrive on Easter Sunday, but decided to come in on Saturday night instead so that we can enjoy Easter morning activities.)
