Onboard placeholder perk

I just want to confirm...booking a placeholder while onboard will still get the same perks as an actual booking, correct? This includes the 10% discount and obc, right?

The reason I ask is, I booked a placeholder, I got the email confirmation, and while the fine print mentions the obc, it makes no mention of the 10% discount. I know the discount is subject to blackout dates. I looked over the advertisement left in my stateroom for onboard booking, and that doesn't mention the benefits of placeholders, or placeholders at all. I just don't want to come across any issues when the time comes for me to use the placeholder.

Has anyone used their placeholder yet? Especially with a TA, specifically, Costco? Was it pretty seamless and easy to use?

When I used my placeholder to book a cruise for 2017, we also got a quote for my parents to join us on that cruise and the prices reflected the 10% discount for our stateroom (both were for the same category).

My placeholder was assigned to my TA from the beginning. It worked seamless for us. But we don't use Costco, so can't speak to them.

We just booked our next cruise using our placeholder from last October's EBPC. When you call to set your date, they will quote you the actual cruise fare with your 10% discount. The 10% only applies to the cruise fare, not to any taxes or fees.

I booked a placeholder this past March and recently used it to book our next cruise with Costco. The process was pretty easy. The most important thing to remember is that you must transfer the "reservation" to your chosen TA within 30 days of making it. So, pretty much as soon as you get home, just give Costco travel a call and ask them to process it. They know what to do. I had to sign a form and fax it back to them. Then I called to confirm that it worked a few days later.

I called to reserve the cruise on opening day for Fall 2017. I had to wait on the phone for a while but the agent knew exactly what to do. The $250 we paid on board was already credited to us and counted toward our deposit.

I booked a placeholder on board the Fantasy in April. The CM at the future cruise desk asked if I wanted to place it with my TA. I said "yes" and I got a confirmation email from her upon returning home. The email reflected the 10% discount. A few days later, I transferred the placeholder to a cruise in 2017. When I got the confirmation email, the price reflected the discount.

Can placeholders be linked to your DCL account? I just tried and it gave me an error message. I couldn't tell if it was one of their infamous website glitches, or if I can't do it because it's not an actual reservation yet. When you use the placeholder, does the confirmation remain the same?

I don't have to do that if I listed Costco as my TA while onboard, right?

You should see your placeholder when you log-in to the Castaway Club area of the DCL website. I don't think you can enter it as a regular reservation, though.

If you named your TA when onboard making the placeholder, it is still highly recommended to confirm they received it.

Enjoy your cruise!

Now that I think about it more, I think there was a computer problem that wouldn't assign Costco as or TA onboard so I might have had an extra step.
