Does Universal require you to wear shoes on the water rides? I am hoping to dress my kids in their suits and hope they can ride the wet ones with just their suits on and no shoes.

When we were there shoes did have to be worn. Some people tried to take them off right before the ride started on the river raft ride, but were made to put them back on. We wore waterproof sandles (Nike Straprunners for most of us) on the days that we knew we'd be riding the water rides.

in the warmer weather i wear leather flip-flops when themeparking it so i can slip them off and store them quick-like. i have never been told to put them back on so maybe its just for tennis shoes?

Wear Teva, or even Birkenstocks....... Tevas work best though. More comfortable then those aqua shoes.

Yes, you do have to. If you slip them off once you've left the loading/launch area (Popeye & Blutos) then they cant really get you about it-people do it all the time. At Ripsaw, your shoes may or may not get wet. On JP, they wont. Just your top half will get wet.

The only ride they will get soaked on is Popeye. Yes, they announce everyone must have shoes on. Here's what I do. As I'm in the queue for Popeye, I take off my shoes, socks, ball them up in my pocket, and put my shoes back on. As I get into the raft, I put my seat belt on, then put my shoes in the middle holder. If the ride ops make me put them back on, then I hold my feet up during the ride, and my socks are dry in the middle compartment. If I get away with it, then I'm barefoot and enjoy.
Either way, I'm coming off the ride with dry socks, and that's what counts the most.

I know that some people love their Teva's. I tried them on before and they just didn't feel right, but the Straprunners were good. Just depends on what you like, but some kind of waterproof sandal is good if the weather is warm enough. I can't stand wet sneakers!

When I was there, the whole boat took their shoes off. It was before we left, too. If we hadn't done that, my shoes would have been ruined for the rest of the day. After the ride, I took my shoes out of the bin and walked out of the ride to a little sitting area near My Ship, The Olive and put them on. No employee said anything.

It's kinda like an unwritten rule.
If you get in the boat with shoes on, fasten your seat belt first, let the ride op check everyone, then take off your shoes, the ride op will be cool with it. If you're fumbling with your stuff and still haven't fastened your seat belt, they're gonna tell you to leave shoes on. Get everyone in your boat to put their seat belt on first.
