On Western - is Grand Cayman a good night for Palos?

Trying to decide what night to book Palos for. Since you have to be back on the ship at 4:30 p.m. in Grand Cayman I'm leaning towards that night around 6:30 - 7:00. Do you think that is a good choice? Or any other suggestions?

We're going on the Western and are going to Palo's on Cozumel night. The Mexicali menu appeals the less to us, as we really love Mexican food, and I'm sure it won't live up to our expectations. We have kids, so won't be taking in the nightlife in Cozumel, and that night is Goofy's Giggle Gala in the clubs. A perfect night for parents to get away, IMO. It's a personal decision, and it's ours to make. Also, we're on the REAS package and have romantic turndown service the night of our Palo ressies, so to have the kids occupied will be a good thing!!! ;) ;)

Any night is a good night for Palo.

We did not choose Cozumel night..because we enjoy eating in the ports we visit so we opted for dinner in Cozumel.

We did Palos on the Grand Cayman night for about the same reason (you have to be back on the boat at 4:30). Also it was our first cruise and according to the rotations, the 4th night is in the same restaurant as the 1st and the last night. So we figured we would have two nights in each restaurant this way. We had the APLAPLA rotation, so we missed the second 'A' dinner.

Incidentally, Palo's is a long dinner. We must have been there 3 hours, which caused us to miss some of the family events that the kids wanted us to go to (i.e. scavenger hunt) Oh well, next time!

I hope it's a good night! I just pre-booked Palo for our Grand Cayman evening with the REAS package. I chose a 6:30 pm timeslot, but hope to make it to the show with the kids after. Is it possible to get to the 8:30 show on time after Palo?

6:30 reservations at Palo are pushing it if you want to make the 8:30 show. Remember, you have to get the kids and still get seats in the theater.

I'd make them for 6:00 just to be safe. Even then, you'll be rushing a bit. Service is slow (maybe relaxed is a nicer way to say it).

We had 6:30 reservations on our last cruise. The staff did their best to get us out in time for the show, but we had to eat our entrees in about 10 minutes. It's too nice of a meal to race through.

Hope this helps. Have a great time!

Hi Pamela! Yep, we're on the October 23rd Western. I will definitely check out the thread and your link. We are getting VERY excited!

I tried to book 6 PM but was told 6:30 was the earliest I could get (possibly booked up already for 6?). Maybe I should considering going to the early show and trying to book a later dinner. Just don't know what to do with the kids for dinner then ....... Hmmmmmm ..... decisions, decisions. Isn't it cruise time yet?

Anyone know how long the Hercules show runs?

We booked the REAS package also. I booked Palo at 7:00 on Tues, Grand Cayman day. I requested the APL rotation so we will miss the 2nd time in Animators. I figured we had to be back on the ship early and we would have plenty of time to get ready. I would like to go into port in the evening when we are in Cozumel. My kids will all be in the Oceaneer's Lab. I'm not overly concerned about missing a show, you can't do everything!! As you can see everyone has a different opinion, you need to see which plan works best for you! Good luck.

You could always get room service for the kids or food from deck 9 (probably quicker). They could eat while you get ready. Or they could eat in the kids club if you keep your 6:30 reservation.

If you want to see the show with them, they could still eat early, go to show with you, then to clubs. Then you could head off to a later time at Palo's.

Just checked the navigators and the show that night was Hercules. We really enjoyed this show, but not everyone does.

Good luck in making your decision.

I booked our Palo dinner on Grand Cayman night, too. My reasons were that Grand Cayman is a short port day (have to be back on the ship early anyway) and on Cozumel day we are doing a long excursion (Tulum Ruins) and wouldn't be back until late afternoon. We have late dining anyway, and our Palo dinner time is 8:30pm, so it won't interfere with us going to the early show, as we would have done, anyway. :)
