Oh man...I was just looking at the food pictures in this forum and I am freaking out now!!! I'm a lifer on WW and have booked Boma for dinner on day 1; day 3 is Narcoosses's and departure day is Boma for breakfast.

How the hec am I going to make sure I don't over do it? I'm horrible with buffets, but will be doing a lot of walking around AK and Seaworld. I know at Narcoossee's I want the lobster, which is low in points and I hardly use any butter. The two buffets I'm worried about. I was thinking what I might do is go to the fitness centre (at AKL) and go on the treadmill for 30 minutes a night or so...

EEK!!!

:scared1:

we went to disney last june and i had been doing ww for four months before(i had lost close to 30 lbs) so while in wdw, i was stressed out and wanted to count my points and my dh kept saying to me - your on vacation and take a break! So on day #2, I ate things i shouldn't have, ok i ate terribly ;) and really pigged out! when i came home, i was really worried and didn't want to step on the scale just yet but when i did the first night home, i gasped. if you can believe it, i lost 1.5 lbs. Must have been all the walking in the parks :rotfl: I wouldn't stress too much! Have a magical trip ::yes::

I've also been on WW off & on for the last 1-2 years. After a 10-12 day trip to WDW I usually only gain 2-3 lbs. I would try to enjoy your vacation & I'm sure you'll find that you still make healthier choices overall than pre-WW your body is also used to eating less now. I get SO much more exercise when on vacation at WDW - I think you average something like 18 miles a day walking the parks - that is a lot better than my usual days behind a desk. :teeth:

Heh nice!! I have done FL twice before, but in Miami Beach, and managed to not gain anything. We're at Disney for 3 nights and then down to the Beach for 5 nights...I'll be walking on the sand!!

Before our trip last july i had managed to loose 25 pounds! We got the dining plan... needless to say I really thought that I was going to gain every ounce back because I truly "enjoyed" my vacation down to the last crumb! I am happy to announce that not only did I NOT gain weight, but I came home 3 pounds lighter!! All of that walking really paid off!!! Have fun and enjoy your vacation!!

We go to Boma every time and there are a lot of good choices.I usually get lots of salad,a bowl of coconut seafood soup and try a little bit of veggies and fish.If I have dessert I get one of the mini torts w/fruit or one zebra dome and some kenyan coffee.Even if you splurge the average person walks over 12-15 miles a day at WDW so you will have earmed it! :cool1:

DON'T stress so much.
I am a Lifetime member of Weight Watchers. I've lost 75 pounds :thumbsup2
This can be done
First of all, you're going to be walking around A LOT, so you've got the exercise thing covered. Plus the resort does have a fitness center, as you mentioned.
If you stress too much about this, you won't be enjoying yourself. Most places do have healthy alternatives- for example you can get carrots instead of fries at lots of CS places.
One day at the AK, I wanted a snack, there was a fruit and veggies stand right outside the Safari, I got a baggie of carrots and a spring water. I felt so good about myself making a healty choice.
Another piece of advise-if there is one treat you will come home kicking yourself because you didn't get it, then GET IT and don't torture yourself about it, just be all the better next week.
Feel free to PM me if you need any more guidance.
Congrats on being a lifer, I know what a long journey it's been.

jezabel, I am SO glad you posted this! In fact, I was coming onto this board to post something very similar. I just started a diet this month - and for one of the first times in my dieting life, I'm actually losing weight! Usually, I would go to WDW and say heck with it, I'm on vacation. But, there's no way I want to "un-do" all my efforts. But,I'm going easy on myself - my goal will be to just maintain and not gain any weight.

I'm really stressing about it too! I was hoping to see some encouraging success stories from people who have survived, so I was inspired by the previous posts. Athenna, thanks for the advice - there are a couple treats I'm planning to splurge on, but I'm going to split it with DH instead of devouring the whole thing myself!

When we go for vacation, we don't worry about our diets. It can get too stressful for us. We go and eat where we want and we have a general idea of what we should get. Because of all the walking and such during the days, we have never gained much weight. Probably one to two pounds at the most and we generally lose a couple of pounds instead.

I was also wondering about being on WW and managing to make good choices while still enjoying myself when it comes to food. We decided not to do the DDP because it would be too much food--and we'd eat it all! We never order appetizers and maybe an occasional dessert but not at every meal. The DDP is a good deal but we'll be going the DDE route instead to keep our waistlines down. It may not work but hey-it's a start.

Thanks everyone!! I'm feeling much better!! I'm not as much worried about Narcoossee's as I am about the buffets. But, I plan on getting seafood at Narcoossee's (LOBSTER!!!) which isn't high anyways, most seafood isn't really...

:P

Don't worry. I was there in Oct and could find WW friendly choices everywhere. I acutally went to my WW meeting upon return and lost 2.7 lbs! It can be done without feeling deprived. The food I had was great!

For a quick meal, you may want to try Tusker House in AK, they have Rotisserie Chicken that was good last 2 times we went to WDW. If you don't eat the skin, it won't be too high in points. You'll walk soooo much that's going to help too. I wouldn't stress too much about it, just make reasonable choices and drink lots of water, I know I don't eat as much when I do.
