Just wanted to say "hi" to any fellow DIS'ers who might be on the ship with me and be online !!! I'm in 2026 if anyone wants to stop by and say "hello". I'll put a privacy sign on the door if anyone is napping. But if there isn't one on the door, feel free to knock !
We had a rocky night last night. The seas were quite choppy. We made it to the dinner table only to leave within 15 min. DD almost passed out, the rest of us were feeling quite ill. I saw a number of other guests leaving as well. We dropped liked cement blocks at 9pm and awoke at 2 am feeling better----and hungry ! Thank goodness for room service.
Seas are better today. But dd's still asked for Bonine as they are a tad queasy. It's formal night tonight so I hope they'll be alright. This is our first cruise on deck 2 and the girls say they feel the ship rocking more than when we were on deck 5 and 7 on previous cruises. I was always under the assumption the lower decks were better, but I also feel more movement on deck 2 ? Strange. It could be simply that the seas are choppier this cruise.

Anyway....just wanted to say "hello" from the Magic out on the open sea :wave2:
PS: they have lots of Med cruise stuff marked 75% off at the shops.

You are fairly close to the front of the ship. I think that makes more of a difference as far as motion than upper/lower decks.

Have a great cruise!

Your seas were very choppy too - there is a disturbance b/w Florida and the Bahamas with high seas and some bad storms... should settle down soon! Have a great time!!! :goodvibes

Did you take the bonine before getting on the boat or feeling queasy or after? I'm just curious as I've bought some - hope it works! I'm going to take it Saturday morning while I'm still on land - LOL!

We get the Magic when you get back (Oct. 6th Western) - so keep it nice and don't bring back and tropical storm guests!;) (We'll be in 2038!)

Keep the Bonine in your system everday, rather than waiting to feel queasy. Also someone on another thread said that the ship's doctor told them to take the Bonine every 8 hours rather than every 12 like on the package.

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes and tips. I did take the Bonine about an hour before I felt queasy. If we all took it every 8 hours we'd be sleeping our cruise away. I'm serious.....that stuff puts us out. DH took 3 short naps yesterday because he just couldn't stay awake. He only took 2 Bonine in the course of the day but that was enough to make him really drowsy.

Very windy right now (Mon, Oct 1). Waters are less choppy----much better but still not what I'd call calm seas. We were very far forward (SPH rooms) on our Western in 2004 (early Nov) and never felt the rocking like we do now. It's also VERY windy. Let's just say I flashed everyone up on deck 9 about 15 minutes ago. Dh witnessed one of the deck 10 lounge chairs become airbourne and fly overboard around 6 am this morning.

Even our servers and a couple of CM's in the gift shops said they were feeling ill the first night. Our head server (Alexander) said about 1/3 of the dining room left before dinner was over. He told us even he was feeling ill Sat night, so we don't feel like such wimps now....;)

Maria - thanks for the update. Looks like there is a lot of storminess out there so no wonder you guys were rolling!

I'm hoping the bonine doesn't make me sleepy - tried it at home as a test and I was fine but that was just one pill.

I hope the rest of your trip goes more smoothly!:thumbsup2

Hi Maria! I just came over here to see how your cruise was going and here you are!

Fingers crossed for calmer seas, light winds and lots of fun.

Enjoy! Groupie Muush :)

Buy the brand name Bonine - the pink pills if you think they may make you drowsy. I have no idea why, but when I get the yellow, generic meclizine they put me to sleep, as does Dramamine Less Drowsy formula.

I've looked at the ingredients on the package and there's no reason for this that I can tell. :confused3

Thanks Selket and Babs for the well-wishes !
Muushka ! Thanks for coming over here to say "hi" to me. Hope you are having fun in WDW !

JsMom2....interesting tip on the Bonine. I do have the yellow generic pills. So far though, we haven't needed anything since Sunday.

Seas are better.....right now we are at sea heading towards CC. We are supposed to pass Grand Turk islands this afternoon (noon) and then later on tonight San Salvador (11 pm).

St Thomas was beautiful yesterday....we liked it better than St Martin. I wish the longer day was in St Thomas/St John vs St Martin, but oh well.....

take care all !

Hi Babs....
sitting here on the laptop because it's a bit stormy out at sea. Decks 9 and 10 are wet and flooded in some areas. The wind is making it worse. Seas aren't too bad considering the wet weather. Haven't seen the sun all day.

As for the beach........
We did two excursions :
in St Martin the Golden Eagle Catamaran. Loved it. Nice crew and fun boat. They took us out to a place where you can snorkel but there is also a small beach there. So we did mostly snorkeling (because we love it),but also spent about 30 min on the beach before heading back. The crew made fresh deli sandwiches for us and juice/soda/water was freely available the whole excursion. Saw lots of colorful fish and one crew member chummed the water and attracted many many more (fruit and stuff....not shark chum or anything).

Then in St Thomas we did the Captain Nautica speed boat/snorkel. They took us to two sites : Buck Island and another site that had a nice (beautiful) coral reef. At the first site we saw several sea turtles, a couple of sting rays, a barracuda and many fish.
At the second site....many more colorful fish (hanging around the reef) as well as a jelly fish. No beach at either of these locations though.

We also did shopping in both ports and much preferred St Thomas. Wish we had more time there.
If anyone has any more specific questions about the ports or the excursions we did, feel free to ask.

Hope our weather clears soon.........our captain says CC tommorrow should be low 80's, partly cloudy and 30% chance of rain.

We leave tomorrow for a night's stay at WDW and the MNSSHP and then we board the Magic on Saturday.:cool1:

I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day at CC tomorrow!!!

Looks like we might hit some weather towards the Keys (we're on a Western). Sounds like those on the 9/30 Wonder cruise had some rough seas - wow!

We leave tomorrow for a night's stay at WDW and the MNSSHP and then we board the Magic on Saturday.

I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day at CC tomorrow!!!
Thanks Carol ! Hope u get some beautiful weather as well. Have fun at MNSSHP (funny.....we also did the party before getting on the Magic).
Only about 9 hours from docking at CC........it rained with very windy conditions for the most part of our day at sea today. It can only get better........:)

Well, you may have lousy weather, but your attitude is great!

How high are the seas? I can remember watching the stats on TV on our rather rough cruise:scared1: .

I hope the food is great, can't wait to read the trip report! And fingers crossed for calm seas.:thumbsup2

Thanks again Muushka !!!! :cool1:

We're on the ship now (just got back on after a full day playing on the island).....leaving CC. Had a great day. Weather a tad overcast but not too bad.
One problem. There was a medical emergency around 4 pm though and our ship is delayed while we wait for a medivac helicopter. We saw part of the incident. Involved a watercraft.....jet ski ? We don't know how badly the person was injured but several lifeguards had to ride out to retrive the person and bring them back to the beach. Later the jet ski was hauled in. They say we will arrive in Port Canaveral on time despite this emergency. I hope the person is alright.......

Yes, I hope that they are all right also.

Have a great time at WDW! We left it in good shape for you!:thumbsup2
