?? on the Luau ??

We are looking to do the Luau on our next trip....

1. What are some dishes served?
2. or where can I find a menu?
3. it is 2 TS credits, correct?
4. Will my 8yo & 5yo enjoy the show?
5. How long is the whole thing, dinner/show?

Any insight would be appreciated!!!!!!!

Its long, you sit at communal tables and a lot of the kids were restless and bored.
The food is of but you can have MUCH better meals for 2 TS credits

Just don't arrive early like they tell you to. They check you in then hold you in an area with no seats and little shade for quite a while before they seat you. The seating process takes quite some time, and I can't figure out why you have to check in and then wait again to be seated, but I would take a nice walk by the pool, maybe get a drink at the pool bar and then stroll over to the luau at the last second. The food is all served family style. All you have to order is your drinks. The less time spent waiting for dinner and the show to start the better your children will enjoy it.

It is really long, and kind of dull. The food is chicken, ribs, fruit, and some weird dessert. We have done this dinner twice, to be fair, and I would never waste money on it again!

We thought it was fun and really enjoyed the food. The show gets better towards the end so at first it seems very dull. With kids i would suggest maybe Hoop-Dee-Doo that is a bit more interactive for them.

We were just at the luau last week with our 2 daughters ages 6 & 7. They enjoyed it very much, especially the dancers and fire twirler (he was excellent!) The beginning of the show is corny but when they go into the luau portion it was very good.

The food was very good. The bread, salad, pineapple was all delicious. Then they brought out ribs, chicken, rice, broccoli. The ribs were very good. The dessert was a chocolate type mousse cake with raspberry sauce. We didn't care for the dessert. Yummy cold beer, as much as you like.
Our server was excellent and was fast to bring out more of anything requested.

It was 2 table service credits per person and beer/wine and gratuity is included. With the dining plan you can get a category 2 or 3 table. We had category 2 and had an excellent view. About mid-way back, first table on the raised tier next to the railing.

We were at the 8pm show, they checked us in at the Poly lobby and took our photo. You are also given leis. We then walked over to the luau cove as a group. They seated everyone quickly.

Our girls were not bored, they thought it was great. They also have kids meals available. It was brought out in a cute little box and included a hot dog, chicken drumstick, and macaroni and cheese. They could also eat anything else that was brought to the table.

We had an excellent time and would recommend it!

We just did the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show on March 4th. This was my 2nd favorite meal at Disney and everyone enjoyed the food. The Salad, Pinneapple and Bread were on the table when we arrived for the 5:15PM show. The main course was wonderful Ribs, Chicken, Rice, Vegetables. Our kids were 7,5, and 1 during our trip and they had a good time.. busy eating during the first part of the show and totally enjoyed the second half of the show with the dancers and fire twirlers! The only bad part was were were on Level 3 in the far back and couldn't see very well... I would insist on a level 1 or 2 for the show. Our service was EXCELLENT. Even though we all enjoyed the show, this was a one time shot for our family.. always looking for new experiences. Ha... I didn't figure out until this 2nd trip that the pictures at dinner were optional... so we skipped that.

Hi again Gigi! I'm not stalking you I promise. I don't know how the tiers work on the DxDDP. Sorry I'm no help. I have a question, though. I'm curious about the ambience for the 5:15 show. Is it dark enough to fully appreciate the fire and dancing? I'm tentatively planning the 8:00pm show for us even though that will be late just for that reason alone.

good question! (and sure, you're not stalking me... you're just politely following me around ) we, too, are considering the 5pm due to the new baby and not knowing what our limitations will be...

i haven't done a ticker yet, but what are your dates? dare i even think that we may be in the "world" at the same time? (we're going end of september thru early october) also, where are you staying? we're reserved at pop, but want to switch to the beach club (i know, there's nothing wrong w/dreamin'!)
