My family and I will be going to Disney in December.

After looking at the new children's menu, I am very worried.:confused3

Has anyone been recently to a restaurant that had a grilled cheese on the kids menu?

I was looking at menus from last year and was making lists of places that offered that grilled cheese, like Whispering Canyon Cafe, for instance. Now, it seems their new menu for the kids no longer offer grilled cheese.

THe DDP is a great savings for myself and DH, but I feel like I am going to be throwng my money out the window for my DS(3):scared1:

DS's main menu consists of grilled cheese, pasta with butter, chicken nuggets on a rare occasion, waffles, french toast, and pancakes......

Someone please help me out and let me know if there are any grilled cheese to be found for DS on the DDP.

Thanks for reading my rambling post. :surfweb:

I had the same problem. My DS8 likes grilled cheese and pizza and not much else for dinner. We were able to order grilled cheese "off menu" at several places including Whispering Canyon and Concourse Steakhouse. It's kind of hit and miss as to whether they'll make you one or not. I remember the Plaza Restaurant at MK had it on the menu.

Will your DS eat cheese on a hamburger bun? That's what I get for mine sometimes. If the restaurant has a burger on the kid's menu, just ask for a cheeseburger with no meat. Specify that you want the cheese and bread only with the cheese melted. That's what my DS gets at fast food places and we make them at home in the microwave. I've found this to be a good alternative to grilled cheese, especially at CS places.

That's a good idea luvbunnies....Thanks

Were you on the ddp when you ordred the grilled cheese for your son at the Whispering Canyon Cafe? I just want to make sure that we don't have to pay out of pocket for it, if at all possible.

Thanks

Don't worry. There seem to be plenty of places that still serve the old grilled cheese sandwich. I did a quick search of menus and this is what I came up with.

Beaches and Cream
Big River Grille and Brewing Works
Captain Cook's Snack Company
Earl of Sandwich
Flying Fish Cafe
Hollywood Brown Derby
Jiko
Plaza Restaurant
Rainforest Cafe
Sci Fi Dine-In
Whispering Canyon Cafe

Also, most of the resort food courts serve grilled cheese such as those at the All Stars and the Riverside Mill. I don't know where you are staying but it's interesting to note that many of the in-room service menus include grilled cheese. Some of the pool bars do too, like the Swan and Dolphin. I don't think these translate well to the DDP though.

Hope this helps.

Where did you find these menus at? I was looking at the ones on allearsnet.com and most of them were from august 2006 before the change took place.

We are staying at Pop Century

I did a search on Allearsnet. Many menus haven't changed since August. I do believe they have the most up-to-date menus but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Also, my results are the same on the wdwinfo.com site.

Yes. We were on the Dining Plan and we were able to get a grilled cheese at Whispering Canyon. We rarely paid for anything out of pocket, expect wine with a few meals.

Grand Floridian Cafe will make grilled cheese and they have buttered noodles and pizza.

Thanks phlufster.

I have never eaten there. I will have to check out their menus for the rest of us.

Maybe strange question, what is grilled cheese? and while i am asking, what is goldfish on the kids menu.

From Wikipedia:

A grilled cheese sandwich is a simple sandwich that consists of two slices of bread and at least one slice of cheese melted in between.
...
The assembled sandwich is placed on a griddle, pan, or dedicated sandwich maker to be heated. Once the bread on the bottom half of the sandwich has reached a toast-like texture, the sandwich is flipped, and continues cooking until the other side has toasted or the cheese has melted.

The grilled cheese sandwich seems to be staple in the North American diet.

Oh and goldfish are little cheese flavoured crackers shaped like fish. They taste kind of nasty if you ask me.

When we went in Nov lots of places offered us meals for our kids that weren't on the kids menus. So I'm sure they would be able to make a cheese sandwich. At least on a hamburger bun. I stressed about those kids menus for no reason! So don't worry and have a magical time.
