Does anyone know how rofr works? say that you were selling your dvc and disney wanted to buy it. do they pay what price you are asking, or the going rate for points? or maybe even the price you originally paid?

If Disney exercises its ROFR, they would pay the seller the same amount the buyer agreed to pay. All the terms of the sales contract would apply - the only difference is that Disney would be the buyer, not the person whose offer the seller accepted.

Disney will buy the contract and give to the seller whatever the proposed buyer was going to pay.

If you are trying to sell, you must find a buyer and there will be a legal contract with all of the conditions of sale. Disney looks at this and decids whether to buy it or not. If not, the buyer is then able to buy it according to the conditions.

Understand that Disney only offers to buy if you already have an interested buyer. Currently Disney has not been using ROFR to buy contracts very often, so don't be overly concerned with that issue. More important is deciding where and how much. Resale agents are helpful. You can also buy from an individiual directly, but if you are new it would be easier, IMHO, to have the help of an agent for the paperwork. Good luck!

When Disney sells points, they sell them at the going rate. I believe it's still $84 a point at resorts other than SSR.

Disney resells at the going rate. I think (could be wrong) that add-on points purchased from Disney are $84 now. They could choose to sell the points as an ititial contract, I guess, if they had enough, but they are pushing SSR now instead. We have purchased add-on points from Disney as well as resales from others. Going throguh Disney is painless, but, as I say, SSR is all Disney will sell as an initial purchase right now, I believe.
