? on OKW driving times/bus service

This is our first visit to OKW. Our first morning we have an 8:15 ps at CP in the Magic Kingdom. What time do you suggest we leave OKW to make it over there on time?

Also how is the bus service to the parks from OKW? We have the car so we will probably always drive but I would be interested in case our group splits up.

You can drive to MK in about 15 minutes from OKW. Keep in mind that you'll still need to park, walk (or take the tram) to the TTC and either board the monorail or ferryboat to get to the MK from there. That aspect can easily add up to another 45 minutes.

Another option would be to simply take the bus from OKW (plan on a wait of 20 minutes plus the 15 minute trip). The bus drops you off at the gate without worrying about the monorail or ferry.

The buses usually begin running about 2 hours prior to the posted park opening. If it's an Extra Magic Hour day at the MK- the park opens at 8:00am- otherwise the scheduled opening is 9:00am.

I'd suggest taking the bus- plan to leave about 7:15 for an 8:15 seating. (You'll want to be there about 10 minutes before your PS to check in at the podium.)

I personally can't stand buses, but mom and dad thought they were fine. I just like being in control of my own destiny. That all said, when we stayed waaaayyyy out in 15 it took about 30 minutes from the time we got to the bus stop to the time we were entering the gates of the MK. When we drove it took about 20 minutes to park and get a monorail. Mind you mom had a handicap placard, so we got to park up front. So we found it to actually take about 40 minutes to enter the same gates. It's just I am a control freak.

BTW Doc, you should have been a professor.

We went to OKW fully expecting to use our car - but we never moved it out of it's space! We may have jst gotten lucky - but we never really had to wait more than about 5 minutes for a bus, and they seemed very efficient - and I loved being dropped off and picked up at the front of the parks. It's definately nice having the vehicle option - but I'd certainly give the busses a shot!

Thanks for the quick replies! Where does the bus drop you off at MK? I always just assumed the bus took you to the TTC and then you still had to do the ferry. I just never took notice of a spot at MK. (We usually stay at VWL and take their boat).

No, it drops you right off at the gate. Right where the boat drops you. Very close indeed!!!

We always have a car and drive everywhere EXCEPT MK. You can't beat the bus service. I'd allow a minimum of 45 minutes from the time I reach the bus stop.
