On my own, looking for the fabulous meal!

I have decided to treat myself to a fabulous dinner at WDW on the last night of my stay. I will be alone on the trip at this point and thought what a way to end my time at WDW. With that said, I am looking for suggestions for dinner. Price isn't really an object becasue I am treating just myself and will put some pennies away prior to my trip in May. I am looking for something special (could be the food, the decor or anything) and also a place where I won't stickout like a sore thumb although I'm not really worried about that. (I don't mind eating alone) Any suggestions? Where would you choose? Thanks!!

The Chef's Counter at Flying Fish would be my choice. It's really interesting to watch the activity in the kitchen and the food is excellent. You won't feel uncomfortable sitting alone at the counter and could very well end up chatting with others who are sitting there. Give it a try!

What about something different like Saana or Jikos? Or sushi from California Grill (OMG best sushi Ive ever had) Greek from Kouzzina?

I would suggest Jiko. They have this great area right by the huge clay ovens where you can eat at the counter. A solo diner wouldn't look out of place there at all and the food is amazing!

I would eat at the raw bar in bluezoo. Second choice would be chef's counter at Flying Fish.

For an extremely special meal: Victoria & Albert's - It was the most expensive meal of my life, but the food was too incredible to describe. Plus the whole experience is lavish. If you do the wine pairings, make sure you take a taxi. The staff will make you feel very special. I'm going back this year. It's worth every penny. I use my Disney Dollars from my Disney Visa for this splurge.

For atmosphere I like Coral Reef or Restaurant Merekesh. This year we are going to California Grill to watch Wishes. I've heard that the food is great and so is the view. For great food, I like Boma (flavors of Africa) or Kona (the variety is great and so is the food).

Or another special treat would be to do the Wishes Desert Party. The deserts are incredible and Tinkerbell practically flies over your head.

So many choices! Have fun choosing.

i would say yachtsman steakhouse. i wouldn't think twice about going in there to have a meal alone.

I would reccommend California Grill or Yachtsman steakhouse, those are two of my favorites

Le Cellier is always a great meal.
Never tried California Grill but sounds like a good choice same with Artist Point.
Kouzzina is amazing for breakfast. (never tried for dinner)

One of the best meal I have ever had was in Blue Zoo.
They have or at least had a lobster special.It was done in a szecheuan style sauce and was excelent.
You can easily walk from there to boardwalk if you were looking for Night life afterwards.

We would love to eat at the chef counter areas mentioned upthread....at Jiko and Flying Fish....how does one reserve these? Do you just request this when you arrive for your ADR?

Do any other restaurants have this type of seating area? I'm pretty sure California Grill has a similar area near the sushi chefs....just something we noticed the past couple of trips and I know my dh would really like this. (me too, of course!)

To the OP, have to agree if you like lobster, Blue Zoo's Cantonese Lobster dish is fantastic! Really, you can't go wrong with any of the signatures at WDW. Each of them has people who love them and people who hate them. Pick the one whose menu, location, and theme appeal to you.

This was my first thought. Also maybe Jiko and ask to sit at the Cooking Place bar where you can watch them prepare the appetizers (and maybe they'll give you a sample or two to test). Another option might be Caliornia Grill, check in early, and ask for a window table with a fireworks view. I've done all three solo and enjoyed them. I really like chatting with the CMs at the Cooking Place bar in Jikos. They are very nice and frequently will offer you a sample or two of their appetizers.

This might help - I'm going solo in April and have decided on two very special meals - one a Bistro de Paris - very quiet and nice and Victoria and Albert's for an all out gourmet experience.

I also second what other pp's have said about Jiko and Wishes Dessert Party.

I've narrowed it down to Jikos and Flying Fish Cafe. I was hoping to get into the Wishes dessert Buffet but it's booked for the dates I am there. I decided to read over the menus and figure out which appeals more but I think it may come down to availability or a flip of the coin.
I like the Flying Fish Cafe because I can walk around later and get a cocktail but I can always go to the bar at AKL or sit outside and imagine I'm on safari. It's a tough choice. Thanks for your help!!

You could get dinner at Flying Fish, then walk over to the Dolphin and get dessert at the bar at Todd English's bluezoo™. They have incredible desserts if you happen to like chocolate. And some if you don't like chocolate, either.

I noticed quite a few people that happen to be eating by themselves at Chefs de France our last trip. The atmosphere is pretty neat if you sit by the window with the French acts outside and the shops make it feel like a legitimate French Cafe. The food is pretty good too. there is a fairly diverse selection of food (from steaks to chicken to fish), and the freshly made sorbets of the day are a must try!

My mom came down with the flu in the middle of our last trip, so I wound up eating at Citricos and California Grill by myself. Both restaurants were great places to eat solo - I never felt uncomfortable for a moment. The Cali Grill was especially nice - I got a seat right by the window and got to watch the fireworks while I ate. (I wonder if whoever assigns tables felt sorry for me when I showed up solo for a reservation for two people!) Anyway, both of those restaurants are definitely good for the solo diner.
