On-Line Course: Raising Confident Children

Pendaflex Learning Center is offering several on-line courses, including a course on how to raise confident children. You have to sign up/join to take their courses as they notify you by email when the next session of your course is available. This course begins February 28th and covers:

Understand how to give children set boundaries and encourage independence

Have strategies for coping with a child's aggression and anger

Have strategies for mitigating jealousy and short-circuiting whining

Understand how to appreciate and support individual children's learning styles and interests

Understand how to prepare children for school and support them once they're there

Have strategies for helping children navigate external influences, such as TV, advertising, and friends with different values

Know how to support children in the face of peer pressure

I have a question.. How do you know if you have completed the lessons correctly, or gotten the correct answers on the quizzes? Do you submit your work online? (I don't think I saw this detail mentioned on their FAQ.)

You study their lesson on-line and they give you quizzes to make sure you 'got' all of the lesson. Everything is submitted on-line. They then will let you know which questions/answers you did not get correct. The person listed as "hosting" the class is available by email so you can ask anything you need to of them if you don't understand some portion of the lessons. And, you are not the only person taking the class. Other people also take the class as you are and they may ask questions along the way (that are posted for you to see) that may answer some of your questions as you go along, too! They will also notify you by email when other classes are available so you will know when to sign up for other classes you are interested in.
