ON the dining plan, can my 10 year old order from the kids menu if she doesnt like the choices on the adult. She's mostly a good eater, but you never know...

I know 9 and unders have to order from the kids menu when available, but what about in the reverse. Just curious -- planning it all out. I know we can pay out of pocket if necessary, but I dont want to end up with too many credits left.

Thanks!

You'd think would be an easy answer, but it seems to fall into the "it depends" category.

You should be able to order the kid's meal, it just comes down to how it works "on plan".

I've heard some reports that there are places where if you use an adult TS to order a kid's meal, that they'll make it an "adult-sized" portion of the kid's meal. Other places may just provide the default kid's meal and still take the full credit. Some places might even refuse to allow a kid's meal with an adult credit, though this is hardly to the restaurant's benefit to refuse.

As you alluded, in the cases except for the first (adult sized portion of a kid's meal), paying OOP for the kid's meal might be the best choice.

Yes you can do this whiteout a problem Our niece could choose from the children's menu or they offered to make a special plate for her. We were on the DXDP and it was great. Of course we just used the two credits for her.
We dined at Narsoossees,California Grill, Grand Floridian Café, Citrico's ,Tony's Town Square and Brown Derby. It was never problem to fix something special.

We did this once or twice on our recent trip. Once we knew we wanted to pay oop for her meal (to save up TS credits for signature restaurants). But they frequently asked her if she would like to see a children's menu. Especially at the signature restaurants.

The hardest thing in ordering off the adult menu for her was moving past all the detailed descriptions of the entree to focus on exactly what it was. When we simplified it - this is salmon, this is mahi, this is steak etc. it was easier for her to decide. Again - this probably pertains more to the signature restaurants. We also ate at 50's PT, Kona Cafe, The Plaza, Yak&Yeti and those were very easy for her to order and find something on the adult menu.

Oh and it was also suggested by our servers that they could always take off the sauce, or substitute different vegetables if needed.

I was wondering the exact same thing regarding my 10 year old somewhat picky eater. Does anyone have any more info about whether or not you can substitute a childs meal in the dining plan for an adult meal. I'm thinking that there are situations where she will likely not enjoy the adult selections.

It can always change - but the offer was made to my small 11 yo dd several times to order from the kids menu. I can't see how they would "not" allow this. Especially if you used a full adult credit to pay for it.
If you want to use the adult credits for something else - signature meals for example - you could always pay OOP for that kids meal.

Thank you, for asking this. My twins will be considered adults this year. At times they do have adult appetites (11 and growing fast), but not always adult tastes.

It sounds like it shouldn't present a problem and hopefully that is the case. I just like to know what options are open before I book any ethnic restaurants......the kids menu at these places seems to be a little more tailored to small palates.;)
