Yes, the DC card gives you discounts but they are NOT the most substantial ever. They are matched penny for penny, by
AAA's discounts. They are beat by seasonal discount codes. You can always book a room with your DC or AAA discount and then find a code to increase your savings.
When it comes to ticket purchases, other sources match or increase the savings on tickets. Connections offers them at a discount but Ticketmania does as well, for slightly lower prices. Both beat the DC discount. What nothing else can do is give you 10% off purchases at the store.
Yes, you can use your card as an Entertainment card but in Orlando it is very limited. In other states you can use it in some hotels, restaurants, car shops, etc. To make sure, you go to the DC member's site and find the Entertainment link and confirm what you could use it for by typing your zip code. It DOES NOT beat buying the Entertainment book or take its place at all, that must be clear. The book offers discounts that outnumber (by far) those you can get with the DC.
You do get some discounts at some DD stores and restaurants, but you also do with your AAA and AMEX cards. So, unless you shop at the DS often, you can match the savings offered by the DC or even beat them through other sources.
And no, I am not on a crusade to defamate the DC. I actually have been a member for two years but must honestly admit that its convenience for anything other than DS purchases has been menial or non existent.
