I made my ADR's a week ago. Got CRT for 6. We're on Deluxe Dining.

I got a charge on my credit card for $241.83. I'm on the phone right now with Guest Services and Dining (I keep getting transferred between the two).

They charged me for CRT. Now they are telling me that they have to cancel the ressie in order to refund the credit card, because I shouldn't have to pay anything unless we don't show up, the cc is only used to hold the ressie. But I sure don't want to lose that reservation.

I'm so mad right now!

Ohh, that really bites! I'm sorry they messed that up for you! Hope you get it solved quickly w/o losing your reservation!

They did this to me when I booked my March ressie. I did NOT have to cancel. They just had to refund my card which took TWO months and about 8 phone calls. They told me they it took 1-2 billing cycles to go through. I called BS on that but that's what they said. I kept calling and they kept telling me that it took 1-2 billing cycles. Finally after 60 days I called them back adn they said "Oops...someone forgot to put it through." Within 3 days I had my money back.

So IMO I think Disney likes to hold onto the money thinking you will hopefully forget.

This is NOT comforting. I hope and pray it doesn't happen to me. The 2 month time period to get the refund BACK isn't a good thing either. Funny, when you owe someone, they want it NOW, when they owe you? Another story! :confused3

There have been quite a few reports here on the boards of this happening. Fortunately this did not happen to me when I made my dining reservations even though I had to give a credit card to secure two places - Askerhaus and Hoop de Doo.

There have also been reports of people's KTTW being charged once they were on-site even though they were on the dining plan and eating with dining points. Several people have suggested NOT allowing charge priviledges on your KTTW in order to avoid this -- others use their child's KTTW card which didn't have charge priviledges on it when they paid for their meal using the dining plan.

Have them process the refund. Then write to your CC company to dispute the charge and indicate that it is being refunded. That way, you don't have to pay it on the CC, and you won't get charged interest on it. Unless it puts you near or over your credit limit on the card, you're then all set and have time to get it all straightened out.

We are planning on adding the deluxe dining plan, but have not yet. So when we book CRT and HDDR we were charged. Told we would get a refund on our credit card when we check in CRT, and wtih HDDR that we would get it credited back when we pick up the tickets.

When you booked did you indicate that you had the "regular" or free dining, if you did at this point? If you told the CM you were on a dining plan, no matter which one, then you should not be charged the full price for CRT. Your CC should only be used to hold the reservation, then a minimal amount is charged if you don't show up, not the full price.

Update: The CM at Guest Services was very nice and apologetic. She did cancel my original CRT ressie, but I told her I wouldn't settle for another date or time since this was their mistake. She gave me a new reservation for CRT, which I'm planning on calling about later today just to ensure that it's in the system for the same date and time. She said my refund should be in the CC system in 5 days. I hope I'm not dealing with this for several months!!

We are DVC, but have not called Member services to add the dining plan on yet. We did tell the CM when we made the ADRs that we are doing the deluxe dining plan, but since it wasn't noted in the reservation yet she said we had to prepay for CRT and HDDR.

I'm so glad you got it straighten out.

I think it is DISGUSTING that you have to pay one penny to hold a reservation!

Same thing happened to me, my debit card was charged and we were on deluxe dining, party of 8!!! I was NOT happy. I called and was treated horribly on the call, basically told "oh well" and that I should get it back within a 1-2 months. I had to write a letter and finally was credited back :sad2:

This happened with our HDDR reservation. I was "lucky" in that there was someone capable of cancelling and re-reserving our spots because there was NO availability at all left but I was "unlucky" in that since this was the way they had to do it I lost my "place in line" so to speak as I have always been told seating is based on WHEN you make your reservation.

My refund only took a week or two.

I believe this is more a computer error then human error. If this happens to you there is a simple fix. Call back and they will take your CC number as a guarantee on the same res. They dont have to cancel it but they do have to send an eform to accounting to refund the original card.

credits do not take 1-2 months billing cycles. It is all based on when they batch out the credit card information. Similar to when you use gas stations and some put a hold on your card it is lifted within 5-7 days same should be for the credit card

OP here, not a computer error. Guest services told me that the first CM that did the ressie for CRT did not input that we were on the dining plan, that he charged for the entire meal. That Guest Services CM, Angelina, did cancel the CRT ressie and made me a new one, giving me a completely different reservation number. They way they did it was frustrating, your way seems fine, just more work for Disney.

Btw, still waiting on my refund!;)

Unless they can cancel and re-book the reservation, I would just leave it alone for the time being, if you can. When you return, if the charge is still not removed, call your credit card company and dispute the charge.
