No recent changes, just:Does anyone know what the current on board booking offer is??
I recently put a hold for a future booking and got a confirmation email, but I don't see any mention of it in my DCL account. Can I use that future 10% discount online or do I need to call to do it?No recent changes, just:
- 10% off of the fare.
- 10% deposit, instead of the normal 20%, on cruises of 7 nights or longer
Pretty sure you need to call. I always use a TA so not 100% sure.do I need to call to do it?
You need to call to assign the placeholder to an actual cruise.I recently put a hold for a future booking and got a confirmation email, but I don't see any mention of it in my DCL account. Can I use that future 10% discount online or do I need to call to do it?
Thank you—one of my least favorite things about DCL is how many things require calling. Might be time to start using a TA.You need to call to assign the placeholder to an actual cruise.
I've used a TA for three DCL cruises now (one previous and two upcoming) and I love her! I was a little skeptical of using a TA because I usually like to just do things myself, but she's been super helpful/knowledgeable. She was great sorting out things with DCL when there were minor issues (and I liked not having to sit on hold with DCL!).Thank you—one of my least favorite things about DCL is how many things require calling. It hasn't always been what it is now. It does change. When we booked our first DCL cruise in 2005, each cabin also received $200 OBC for 7+ nights and $100 OBC for 3-6 night cruises. Once they created the tiers of the Castaway Club, on the 7+ night sailings you'd get $200 for silver, $250 for gold, and $350 for platinum.Same as always, as the prior poster said.
And then they made it more difficult and annoying for TAs to give onboard credit, too. Some still do, but it's not almost automatic like it used to be.It hasn't always been what it is now. These could be stacked in addition to any OBC you'd get from a TA, which ours gives us $200/cabin for a 7-night. So for our AK and Med cruises, we booked 2 cabins since our kids were getting older, so we got $700 OBC from DCL and $400 from our TA for a grand total of $1100 OBC.
Ah, the good ol days... when we'd sail 3-4x/year because the deals/perks were so good.
Then they dropped it back to $200 for all tiers. Then just dropped it completely.
Yes! How could I forget that? They cut the TA's commission way down if a reservation was transferred to a TA.And then they made it more difficult and annoying for TAs to give onboard credit, too. Some still do, but it's not almost automatic like it used to be.
They probably don't need the incentives to fill the ships anymore, at least that's what the passenger numbers show. Then they dropped it back to $200 for all tiers. Then just dropped it completely.
Oh I understand. They are merely incentives to book/buy. If people will buy without incentives, why bother? They probably don't need the incentives to fill the ships anymore, at least that's what the passenger numbers show.
