On board booking policy

We last cruised DCL in 2014 and the on board booking policy has since changed. Previously, if you booked your current cruise with a particular TA, you had to use them for your future cruise that you booked if you wanted to use a TA. Is this now still the case with the new placeholders that you can purchase onboard? I ask this because my husband's college Alumni association does group cruises on the Disney Dream. For their cruises, we would need to book with their designated TA for the group pricing and benefits. While on board the group cruise, I would like to be able to get a placeholder and associate our usual Dreams Unlimited Travel TA to it. Is this possible? I searched all over and could not find the answer to this particular scenario. Thanks in advance!

I don't believe you can designate a different TA on board other than the one you booked that cruise with. However if you don't assign it to a TA at all while on board, you have up to 30 days after you book the cruise to designate a TA. I would just tell them on board that you do not want to name a TA and book your placeholder direct with Disney. Then after you get home you will need to contact DU and get the placeholder transferred to them.

This is correct. The drawback is it will count as a transferred reservation and you will get the lower onboard credit from DU.

Thanks to both of you! At least some onboard credit is better than none.

FYI...Disney Cruise does not do group rates. You are probably going to pay the same whether you pay with the group's TA or on your own.

Yes, but in a case like this, there will likely be group activities that you must have booked through the group to participate in.

This shouldn't affect the onboard credit from DU. The credit the give is the same for onboard bookings and transfers. The amount is 50% of the credit for a new direct booking.
