? on AKV purchase....

My brother just purchased 160 points at AKV with a use year of December. Now, Kidani Village is currently open for reservations for after May 1st.

His questions are....

1) Can he call right now and book a trip at Kidani Village for after May 1st even though his use year is December?

2) Can he use his newly acquired points to book something prior to May 1st at another DVC property?

1. Yes, he can make his reservation now. They will use his December points.

2. I don't think so. The reason is there's no reciprical booking available for owners at the other resorts. Basically if one person owns BWV for example and books at BCV, that leaves a vacancy at BWV that the BCV owner can book.

If he booked BWV some time prior to May using his AKV points, it would not be possible for the BWV owner to book at AKV prior to May....thus no reciprical booking capability.

If it's different I'm sure someone will respond.

you should be able to book at any DVC resort right away.

A major bulk of my points are at Hilton Head Island (HHI) and we have never stayed there

Did he get developer points as part of his deal? I just added on at AKV and my developer points can only be used at Saratoga

Since the part of the resort he purchased into is not open until May 1st he can not stay at any DVC on those points until after May 1st.

He should, however, have developer points he can use now at Saratoga Springs.

You are correct Terry - I now remember that I cant use my new add on points now - just the developer points
