We need to add another person when showing up for our ADRs. Our travel agent advised us to leave the ADRs the way they are and just show up with the other person. Has anyone had a problem with being "turned away" or had a longer wait because of having to seat more than what the ADR is for? Our travel agent said if we wanted to add the fifth person, she would have to cancel all our ADRs, redo, thus taking the chance of not being able to get them back. Any thoughts? Thanks

I would add a person if it is a fifth....that means a different size table.
When I called to add, they held the old ADR until the new was completed.

If you only reserved for 3 folks now, you MIGHT be ok, but if you're reserved for 2 or 4 people, I would add them.

I know when doing my ressies, my CM seemed much quicker with the ressies for only 2 folks, then mine with 4 folks. (we are a group of 4, but some meals we will split up to eat).

My thought is that there may not be availability anymore for some of the restaurants. I've read some recent threads saying "Can't get ADRs for ? because all booked up" So, I'm guessing that some of my ADRs won't be able to change. I just want to be able to go to the restaurants every day with peace of mind and not have to face a battle to add that fifth person. If worse comes to worse, would they just make us wait until a table for 5 would open? Thanks

I called to add 1 person to our ADR to make it total 4 people in our group. The Fantasmic H&V ADR was no problem to add 1 more person, but the ADR for O'hanas had to be changed completely. :sad2:

Also, anyone know if my 12yr. old son can order from the children's menu. He'll never eat everything off an adult platter. I mean, will the waiters really ask his age if he tries to order from the children's menu? Thanks

We have a ressie for Cindy's Royal Table October 1st. My friends decided to join in the Disney Fun and come on vacation with us. I called Disney Dining # and asked to add 2 more people onto my reservation. What they had to do was cancel the first reservation and put in a whole new one. The original time of our ressie was 6:30, and it changed to 6:45 when we changed the ressie.
CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO WDW!!!

I'd just say at the seating podium, "Oh, there must have been some mistake on the phone when I made my adr." It's not like they will turn away paying customers.

How is that reasonable? Someone made their reservations for the right number of people and is going to have to wait longer for a table because of a lie.

Call and make changes ahead of time, if they say no it's because they can't accomodate a party of that size at that time. Make other plans, things change all the time, keep calling if you want to, but lying about something like this affects other guests.

If you are changing your ADR's from 4 to 5, you need to call and change your ressies. In most cases, this is a completely different table size. I've heard that some places aren't taking walk-ins, which is essentially what you would be. If you wait until you get there, you may be out of luck.

We added a 5th person to our trip and were able to get everything within a 15 minute period of our original ressie, with the exception of LeCellier. Had to take an 8:30pm time slot. We didn't care, since its our favorite restaurant.

I was prepared to switch restaurant days, as we had specific places we wanted to eat, but weren't really particular about which day. If we couldn't get anything for dinner, we were prepared to change to lunch and do our CS for dinner.

Have her try to get new ones without cancelling the old ones, then once gotten, the TA can cancel the old ones. That's what we did. We went right down the line and made new ressies and cancelled the old ones as we went.

The risk you take by walking up to the podium is they may not have a space open. If you go from say 4 to 5, you may be waiting a long time indeed.

Last summer we added someone 1 week before we were suppose to leave changing our number from 4 to 5 also. I called and changed ADR for Crystal Palace and Whispering Canyon Cafe, they told me they could change them but now 2 people would have to sit at one table and the other 3 at another table. When we got there we got a table for 5 no problem. We could not change Chef Mickeys so I kept them as was and we decided either me or DH would grab a snack at hotel if they could not sit us. Like you I worried myself sick, thought of nothing the night before and all the way down there. After we got there walked to podium and she said how many, I said I made it for 4 but now we have 5. She said okay, not rude, we got a seat in about 15 minutes, which in the past is pretty much normal on a saturday night around 7:30. No one had to wait longer for a table because of this and there were plenty of tables empty. I figure that they don't book all the tables that way they can take a few walk ins or people who made ADRs get busy and don't show up.

My Disney specialist said she tried to change some of our ADRs and said almost all of them had no availability. Some could change but our times would be WAY off then what we originally planned. So now I've got another thing to worry about. All the places we have ADRs for, I really want to try and don't want to have to worry every day. She said I could try myself, so....someone pray for me. I'll let you know how it turned out. Thanks to all who've responded.

Well...thank you to everyone for all their advice. I did go ahead and called myself and was able to get new ADRs for 8 of my 11 reservations. Either they stayed the same time or there was only a 10 min. difference. Rainforest cafe was the only one that I had to change with a 45min. difference. The other three I'll keep checking on. Now I feel better!!!... So will my older son now that he won't have to worry about sitting by himself!
