Hi,
I am planning a 6 day vaca to all things disney in a few weeks. I am trying to reserve a campsite, but need some help from people who are familur with this area.
the 2 places I am looking at is the KOA off happy camper place in kissimmiee. I was told they are 8 miles from the mouse
I am also looking at Lake Louisa state park ,7305 U.S. Highway 27
Clermont, Florida 34714...... I was told they are 22 miles from the dis park

My questionis.. the KOA is closer but they are charging $80 more for us to stay then the other park... I am trying to save money ..

How much farther "time wize" is the lake louisa park then the koa to disney???
I mean I know it is farther miles wize, but with city traffic didnt know if it make it $80 worth of difference know what I mean...

Also if you have any other places of suggest I am open, but am not wanting to spend more then $200 (this is why I am bringing my camper lol )
TIA
Keri

$80 over a six day period comes down to $13.33/day. Consider the amount of gas you will burn with a 44 mile round trip daily and then cost it out. Then ask yourself whether the difference is worth the time and aggravation of driving that distance.

Looking at google maps, the driving time from the KOA is about 26 mins. Lake Louisa is about 46 minutes. One way.

Well, the KAO will be regular road traffic (ie stoplights, etc) the Clermont site could be mostly Turnpike to Hwy 429(toll road), which ends at Disney/Celebration, but moves much faster(interstate speeds). But $$ wise you'd have to figure tolls and the extra gas- not sure they'd add up to an extra $80 a night though.

I can get home(I live behind the Magic Kingdom) from the Clermont exit on the Turnpike in less than a half hour.

Hey... its only extra $80 over the entire stay... for KOA it'll be $166 and the Lake louisa is $78....

How much our the tolls???
TIA

Sorry, I misread it. I wondered why KOA would be THAT much more!:lmao:

The toll would be $1.25 each way on 429 (so $2.50). Not sure about the turnpike. If you hit another tollbooth there it'll be another $1.25 each way- I'm sorry, I don't remember at what point the last tollbooth is there before we get off onto 429.

Have you considered Tropical Palm Resort and Campground in Kissimmee? Tropical Palms is a very easy dive to WDW. From Tropical Palms to MK parking lot is 7 miles. (The other Disney parks are closer.)

We had a family reunion here last summer. It's a very nice campground. Nice pool area, kids playground, volleyball, basketball, mini golf, poolside grill/bar, clean bath houses and laundry room. They often have fun family stuff going on on weekends and school breaks. The staff is wonderful. We had an awesome weeks stay here last July. (We liked it so much my family of 5 is going back to camp here spring break.) Call to get rates because the web site is often not updated and I get better deals by calling. They have a few different types of camp sites ask about these and rates. If your looking for the cheepest tell them. They will work with you. We had over 80 family members here for the reunion some camped some stayed in cabins. They were able to meet all spectrums of family economics.

We also toured both KOA campgrounds you mentioned when looking for the reunion site. Honestly, we found them too be boring and much farther away. They may say it's 8 miles to the mouse but I have to assume that is to Disney's property line. The question you need answered is how far is it to each of the parks parkinglots? Tropical Palms is much closer, nicer and had far more to offer. It also more centraly located making it easy to go the market, restaurants and such. It's located behind Old Town off of 192 on Holiday Trail.

or avoid the tolls and just come down 27 to 192. There are a few traffic lights but not that bad.

Or what about one of these campgrounds in Winter Garden on 50? Just take 545 all the way down to Flamingo Crossings (turn left onto road after the intersection with Seidel) and then come into WDW off Western Way.
