Spent 3 nights here recently for a quick Springbreak getaway with my son. Booked via Priceline Express Deals for $82 a night which was a great value although parking and resort fee was tacked on beyond the Priceline charges.

The resort is impressive. Rooms are very comfortable and a good size. If you're a member of Omni's frequent guest program you receive a beverage service each morning which was a nice way to start the day. The highlight for us was the pool complex. It has a great lazy river which was a hit. There is also a huge family pool with a very impressive water slide. A third quiet pool is also available. There's a pool bar/restaurant next to the family pool which we enjoyed for lunch.

The resort's location is something one should be aware of. It's west of WDW. While just off I-4, it's significantly farther west than I've ever stayed. The distance is enhanced by the fact that the traffic from the resort's exit to the Disney area is very slow and backed up most of the time. There are other routes (Goodman Road) which can get you to 192 without using the interstate but they're time consuming. I'd consider this more of a destination resort than somewhere I'd stay when visiting the parks. Having said that the hotel does provide a free shuttle (reservations required). ChampionsGate also features a Publix, Walgreens, McDonalds, Wendy's and a terrible Chilis should you want to escape the resort prices.

If you're looking for a great resort with an extensive pool complex or really into golf, this place should be on your short list.

ChampionsGate is right at the edge of Davenport. We stayed in Davenport last year and will be staying again this coming May. This is a great area in general. I found last year the traffic to not be as bad as the original poster, but I'd imagine that is highly dependent on the time of the year. A 20 minute drive to a Disney park is not unusual. Not too bad, all things considered, but not ideal for those who like to pop out of the parks for a refresher at their house/hotel, and then pop back in, as you are looking at a good hour's worth of time spent commuting.
