I'm just so excited, I wanted to share...my husband and I went to our local casino on Saturday (which we hardly ever do) just to spend some time together and have lunch, and my husband put $20 in a machine and won $15,573. I was so excited...it was truly unbelievable!!!

I know you didn't ask for advice, but I'm going to give you some

Put all the money in a 6 month CD at the bank. Use that 6 months to really determine what you might want to do with it, but don't spend any of it until you pay your taxes for 2011.

That's actually really good advice. The only thing I would add is if you have and debt you know you want to pay, go ahead (saving some out for taxes) so that you stop any interest now instead of letting it accrue.

I was under the impression that when you win that much the casino actually withholds 25-30% and sends it to the IRS directly. When you file your taxes you'll find out if you owe more or less.

Check with your tax preparer. When I won at a casino, I was able to deduct money I lost from the winnings. If you play with a players card, make sure to get a win/lost statement at the end of the year. Also save loosing lottery tickets. Congrats & Enjoy!
